Thumbs up Dantes Ethics in America

I am grateful to InstantCert because I passed the Dantes Ethics test today! This was the test that decided if I graduate this year or next. So, May 10th I will be the first from my immediate family to graduate from college.

I have seen posted several wanting information about this test. Use InstantCert to study! The electronic format for most of the questions is a scenario. You have to make the decision with a yes or no answer if it applies to a moral decision. Sometimes it asks in a certain philosopher's theory, like Kant, Aristotle, etc. The scenario will be used over and over with different questions. So, read it through carefully once and then all you have to do is read the question and answer.

Study what each of the Philosopher's main beliefs are. InstantCert definitely in their review gives you enough to pass. The Philosopher's I can remember from the test are: Kant, Epicurus, Socrates, Aristotle, Rawls, Jefferson, Plato, Mills, Bentham (several questions), Eptictetus, Hobbes, Locke, and Aquinas. There were quite a few questions about consequential ethics.

There are also 2 scenarios at the end that are in essay format. There are 4 parts that you have to answer in your own words like an essay. Use theories that apply that you believe and then know a theory that in opposite of what you believe. You need to be able to back it up with reason. Lastly, you have to tell if the opposing view has changed your mind in any way or if you still believe your beginning statement.

There were also 2 passages of scripture that you had to make decision on what those passages were saying about ethical situations. (Sad, but I can't even remember which ones....something in Luke)

There were 112 questions and 2 hours to take it. A 46 is required to pass.
