Hi Keandre,

Welcome to the board.

You saw that Instantcert has a study guide for CLEP Macroeconomics, right? Just checking!

Here are a few links to additional online resources that might be helpful to you:

Regarding the "50th Percentile". The CLEP and DANTES exams are scaled so that the minimum passing score for each exam, is equal to the mean passing score of students who earned a grade of C in the corresponding college course

So, if the average raw score of the sample students (who took the corresponding college course and passed with a grade of C) was 45 correct answers out of 93 questions. WE would ALSO need to achieve at least 45 correct answers out of 93 questions to pass that particular exam. A raw score of 45 out of 93 would then be adjusted to equal a scaled score of "50" (with a 20-80 range).

The reason they scale the scores rather than just reporting the raw scores, is so that a scaled score of "50" on one exam always has exactly the same objective value as a scaled score of "50" on any other exam (regardless of difficulty level).

Further, for some exams, there isn't enough statistical data to be able to award grades. These exams are therefore only evaluated as pass/fail.

In the case of your particular school, they have set their own policy and have decided to only award pass/fail credit for all exams. But, rest assured, if you pass an exam, you will have done at least as well as the average college student who took the actual course and got a grade of "C".

Pretty neat really, isn't it?

Anyway, I hope this explanation helps,
