Default ECE Test Process - paperwork, scheduling, etc.

For those of you who have taken an ECE exam can you shed some light on the process?

I've received approval from my EC advisors to take these tests.

Org Behavior, Labor Relations and Human Resources Mgmt..

Is it realistic to pay today and test this week, or does the process take much longer? (I'm not as worried about the study part, only the paperwork, scheduling, etc

    thanks!

It depends on your test center availability. I usually scheduled my ECE's with Pearson Vue the day after I paid on the EC website. Keep in mind it may takes weeks to find an opening in the Pearson Vue schedule that works for you. If you have several centers near you, you may be able to get in sooner. Towards the end of the year Pearson Vue gets really busy. I would really recommend that you schedule your exam as soon as you can if you are in a hurry. Good luck!

Pay first, and then schedule. In my area it can be difficult to find a test time that works for your schedule, so plan ahead. Good luck!

Yellow Dog is right, you will not be able to register with Pearson Vue until you have paid EC and they have notified Pearson Vue.

Julia, I just found out that there is a PearsonVue 3 miles from my house so I am planning on taking the Labor Relations and HR Management tests myself. Please post feedback for those when you are done!

    Thanks

I took Labor Relations a couple months ago and scored an A. Feedback is in the IC-specific feedback forum (I no longer have access or I'd share the details). With study, it was not difficult.

You have six months to test after registering with EC, and many of the Pearson locations can have big backlogs for time slots. The closest center to me was a few weeks out, and when a hurricane made landfall on us the day of my appointment, I had to reschedule with a center two hours away to get a time I could make without disrupting my graduation timeline. I would definitely register and pay with EC as soon as possible. You can always schedule an appointment further out if you need more time, but if you need a quick appointment, putting off that first step might bite you.

Moving a test date farther out is free, right? If I want to take the World Conflicts ECE in early April, I should pay and schedule it now?

I'm going from memory on this, so hopefully someone is currently registered for one and can peek at the fine print to confirm, but I want to say the "free" rescheduling window is either 24 or 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. If you cancel/reschedule within that window, there is a fee, but if you give enough notice, no expense. I know I moved my ECE around 48 hours before my appointment AND moved it to a different center (had no choice, we had a hurricane due to make landfall on top of us that morning and the original testing center would not shut down so I moved to a center that was sane the following week). There was no fee.

So yes, I would go ahead and pay and get it scheduled. If that date is creeping up on you and you think you need more time, you can reschedule (just read the fine print when scheduling it the first time to confirm exactly how much notice you must give to do it without a fee).
