    Question Excelsior Nursing Degree

    Hi

I'm planning on doing my nursing degree with Excelsior. What I want to know is, for others that have gone this route, did you have any problems finding a job with this degree and did it affect your earnings. I've had others tell me that alot of places doesn't recognize excelsior's degree, is this true?

I was an LPN and received my ASN from Excelsior years ago when it was Regents University. I am now in their RN-MSN program. I have been licensed in CA, MT, IL, and NV. No difficulties for me, although when I transferred to IL they sent my info to a review board and I had to document 2 years of experience as an RN (which I had). I know things have changed in recent years and many states have certain requirements now, like additional clinical time, so I would contact the State Board of Nursing in the state in which you intend to practice to find out what their specifics are before you start the program, just to make sure you know what will be expected of you for licensure.

    Best of luck!

    Amy

You need to make sure that your particular state will accept the AS Nursing from excelsior and that it meets their req to sit in on the state boards.
