Wow, that is exciting. A new examination program! "Uexcel" looks like a partnership between Pearson and Excelsior, and it appears if they are going after the CLEP and DSST market by offering exams in that price range ($85). It will be interesting to see what exam titles will be offered as the catalog expands.

Default Free College Credit Through Uexcel Exam Program

Uexcel Exams through Pearson, in partnership with Excelsior, is offering free exam for college credit during their beta testing phase. These exams will normally cost $85. It says students must meet "minimum requirements", whatever those are. If you pass the exam you get credit sent to the college of your choice. Grades will not be assigned until this Fall when the testing phase is complete.

Here is the PDF flyer about the beta testing....

They are currently offering a beta period for free for the 4 tests.

To prepare for the launch of this new program, UExcel™ is offering qualified students the opportunity to take a FREE beta exam in four different subject areas: Calculus, Physics, Political Science and Psychology. Pass the exam, and we’ll send a transfer credit transcript to the college or university of your choice.

Who: Students who have taken classes in the exam subject areas or those with equivalent knowledge of the exam subject.

What: FREE college or university credit for taking and passing a new credit-by-examination test.

When: The beta period will run from July 28, 2008, until we have received enough data to determine final scores on the tests.
Where: The tests will be delivered at more than 1,000 Pearson VUE test centers around the world.

Availability is limited. Secure your seat today by registering at UExcel - College Credit by Exam using the promo code UEXCELFREE
