I am enrolled in the COSC Business Admin program. I don't think you can test out of MGT499 or take another course in place of it if you want to have "Business Administration" on your transcript.

The syllabus is very challenging. There are 41 learning outcomes. There are group projects, quizzes, and at least one paper to write.

If you don't take this course, you can still get a degree at COSC by testing out and/or using your business credits, but it would fall under "Individualized Studies" and would not appear as "Business Administration" on your transcript.

The only way to know for sure if that TECEP would be acceptable as a substitute would be to call the school directly and ask. They do accept the exam for credit, but they don't indicate if it would replace that specific course.

I would call them. Just tell them you're a prospective student who has a lot of credits by exam, and you were wondering if the the MGT499 has to be taken as a class or if there is a corresponding exam. And that would tell you for sure.

All in all, I'm very happy with COSC. They accepted every class and exam that I threw at them and have been very pleasant to deal with. I live about 45 minutes away, so I went in person to see how they operated, and I was very pleased with what I saw.

    Good luck.

Default COSC response to capstone question.

Below is an email transcript that you may be interested in. Hope this helps.

    Hello,
I intend to matriculate and graduate with a BS in Bus Admin in Fall'2009. At this time, I have one final requirement remaining (other than autobiography) and that is a Strategic Processes (capstone) course. I would like to "test out" via a standardized exam. Could you please provide me with a few tips on what tests are available that other students in my position have taken, that qualifies? For example, some people have mentioned trying to arrange to take the TESC.edu's Business Policy (BUS-421-TE) exam. I'm in Hawaii so I'm not sure if they will allow this. Anyway, I'm sure you must have options for students in this situation. Please advise.

If there are no tests, could a portfolio assessment meet the criteria for this course?

    COSC RESPONSE: Jun-10-2009
    Good morning,
The capstone course will have to be taken with Charter Oak State College. Also, the TECEP exam does not meet the capstone requirement. If the capstone component is the last requirement you may need, I strongly suggest you matriculate.
Use the following website to matriculate Complete Your Degree Online with Admissions at Charter Oak State College
The charges are posted on the student’s account with in 24 hours. Please, read the instructions carefully. After the charges have been posted on your account, you will be able to enter your account and make payment. If you wish to use a payment plan, you will need to contact the business office. Also, the contact number for the business office is (860) 832-3909.

I am not sure what is going on with COSC. I have matriculated and submitted my CPS for Organizational Management. My intention is to complete Business Strategy with CSU. I have been waiting for 2 weeks on a response from my advisor at COSC, so I don't know if this course will meet the requirement. It is very frustrating to say the least. I have not heard that you must take Business Strategy with COSC. If this is the case, I am in BIG trouble
