  • A few TESU graduation questions

I'm sure these questions have already been discussed (probably many times), but I can't seem to find the answers with a search here or at TESU for some reason:

    1) How long can an alumni access/use their TESU email account after graduation?

    2) Do all of the "other" courses that were NOT used for completion of the degree show up on the finalized/post-grad transcript?
The academic advisor didn't know, and thought they "should, but might not" (recent changes??), and the Registrar's Office was "not authorized to discuss this" with me , so I am wondering if someone who has a very recent post-grad diploma with extra credits could check for me?
(I'm hoping it's a yes, since I have several business courses that might be applicable to a future employer, but were not applied to my BA.SS degree)

    3) I have 13 TECEP credits (which were registered for before the May TECEP/residency cut-off date), and a Capstone.
They should all meet my 16 cr residency requirement, but aren't showing up that way when I look at my academic eval, or for the academic advisor I spoke with yesterday either. Besides contacting the Registrar's Office, is there anything else should I do to make sure these TECEP credits are applied and I can actually graduate? eta: I just received a confirmation from the Registrar's Office that I met requirements, so it appears I am okay with this one.

    4) For March graduation, what will the actual date of graduation be, and how soon can I say (in a job interview) that I have my degree?
If I apply somewhere in-between time, can someone remind me what to say/how to market myself... "SAHM for umpteen years, now degree pending, and I'll be great for this position because..."?? lol

I think that's all for now...

For number 4, around the 10th of the month. At that time, you will receive a copy of your transcript and a couple of official letters attesting to your degree that can be used as proof, if needed. Your diploma will come a couple of weeks later.

Personally I would have no problem putting the degree on my resume as completed now that you know you've fulfilled the requirements. You can add March 2017 next to it so that it is all above board. Nice thing about doing it that way is whether someone reads the resume before or after graduation it still makes sense.

        2) Your eval doesn't have much of a relationship to your TESU transcript. It doesn't matter if the course is in the "other" section or not. I know this because I had two evals and different courses ended up in the "other" section. All courses will show up. Also, your eval will disappear once you graduate. So if you want to save a copy of it, do it before the date of degree conferral. If you try to show your TESU transcript to an employer, keep in mind that there are no grades except for TESU courses and passed TECEPs.

So the "Other Courses" don't show up if lets say I need to get an official transcript showing "X" amount of credits in Accounting. This is a great question and I was checking this thread to see if someone answered it. For my reason I need to show 24 Accounting Credits of a particular job I am aiming to get. Upon graduation from TESU I will have the credits I need but they wont all be in the "main" degree plan for TESU so I'm wondering If I'd need to have extra copies of my HVCC transcript on hand when the time comes.

I personally would rather show a course with grades (if they're good grades especially), so I would get that HVCC transcript to show that I took the courses there. But that's just me.

Your eval has nothing to do with what will appear on your transcript. It will list all courses grouped by institution, not by area of study or some other grouping. Your accounting credits will show up minus the grades (except for TESU which will include grades). If you took accounting courses at HVCC, you'll find those courses in the HVCC section of your TESU transcript without grades. Or you could just give them your HVCC transcript.

With my AA from the CC, the final transcript has an X for CLEPs and a TE for transfer courses, and letter grades for whatever I took there. Sounds like TESU will be similar.

Have any of you run into issues with having to explain the multipe sources of credits or lack of grades to an employer? I know a few of you have applied for federal positions that require transcripts...just wondering if my transcript would likely bring about questions?

Also, and this is probably asking for a lot, would any of you be willing to post a copy of your TESU transcript?

If you use Google images, you'll find one that is pretty representative of how transfer and exam credit appears. I didn't want to post a link since the poor guy didn't redact his personal information including the SSN. You might run into an old TESC transcript with grades for transfer courses. You won't have grades.

Here is the backside of the current transcript:

Hudson Valley Community College Its where I am taking some "butt in seat courses" I signed up and everything for two terms prior to finding out about this method so I am getting a decent amount of credits this way. I think I am only paying a couple hundred out of pocket for a total of 30credits. PELL and TAP basically paid the two terms so I am just seeing it through. Also thanks dfrecore I will just order extra HVCC transcripts when they are finished with so I have them handy that is some good advice I didn't know it wouldn't show a grade on the TESU one.

I was told that mine would continue indefinitely, but that would lose the ability to log in and change the password. I was reluctant to answer as I haven't reached that point yet. I'm still considered an enrolled student.

It's rare these days to hear of an official IT policy quite this boneheaded. Reminds me of my credit union website not allowing spaces in passwords a few years ago.
