I used the Instantcert site and the Princeton Review "Cracking the CLEP". If you do those 2 you can pass it easy (more than 50 points). It wasn't as difficult as I thought. However I ran out of time and didn't answer at least 10 questions.
Know your numbers (e.g. integers, rational, irrational.... etc...). Know your formulas for combinations, know which is a function when you look at a graph (Do the "vertical line" test for this. A vertical line will pass through either no points or one point on the graph of a function, but it will never pass through more than one). Probabilities there were quite a few questions. Just keep in mind that if the problem asks the probbility of two or more events occurring consecutively. you MULTIPLY the probability of the two events together and when the question gives you two or more chances to achieve a single result you ADD the probabilities. Know your sets. Know how to graph functions, where you plug in values for x to get y. Most of the time you can just plug in the answers given (1 is ALWAYS right) and go from there. What I also did is do a brain dump before starting the exam while I was going thru the introduction screens. Just took a piece of scrap paper and wrote all the formulas and definitions of numbers, and how to calculate logs. What I should have done differently in the math test would have been to skip and mark any questions which I didn't know the answer right away and come back to them after completing the 60 out of 60 questions. I spent too much time trying to figure out all questions in order. Good luck! Marcy |
