Great job! I wish I could just pass rather than raising the bar.

Hi Gary: I am in awe of you!!! And I do wish you much luck!!! Can you tell me how you prepared for Operations Management? I'd appreciate any insight you can provide. I've read all the previous threads but hope that you can add something. I've got 9 credits left and this is a required course that I am dreading. I'm hoping that I'm not making a mistake by taking the TECEP instead of going the CSU route discussed in the OM thread. BTW...is passing still a 60? I read in another thread that it had been lowered to 50 because of the difficulty factor. Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated. And, again...WOW...Best of luck to you. Pattie |

I just took world population and did score an A. I was very, very nervous for the first ECE exam. The Pearson VUE fingerprints you, gives you a list of rules to read, takes your picture and then sends you to another person who then re-fingerprints you and confirms, reviews your photo and lets you in. Then when you are done, you have to be fingerprinted again!
Even with all that, it was not so bad. The test was very straight forward. I thought the questions were more straight forward than DSST exams. I reviewed the case studies, but that was one of the two weaker spots I had as I tried to "apply" the information to their scenario's. You need to know where the difference of where people may live as it relates to their fertility for both china and india, and where environmental refugees would migrate to. Everything else was covered in the specific exam feedback. You would do well to review. There was some overlap in the Excelsior content guide test. |

I used the Barron's book and I got the VangoNotes audio, but I only ended up listening to about half of it. There was a podcast series on iTunes that I used, and while it wasn't very fancy, it was helpful. I tried to concentrate on the ratios and formulas mentioned in the specific exam thread, and I'm glad I knew them. You should understand PERT and CPM to a fair level of detail. There is some overlap with Human Resources Management, but not much. You should know about location selection and different layout designs. Basically, trust the specific exam thread -- don't trust my weak memory of my weak preparation. Passing score is still 60. As I was taking it, I first marked answers where I was pretty confident, and I got close to 60 on that first pass. After that, I probably found about 10 more that I felt okay about, and on the rest I could usually at least eliminate one or two wrong answers, so I'm reasonably comfortable that I passed, but I'll feel better once I see my score. -Gary- |

Thanks, Gary! I appreciate you taking the time to post the response. I'm completely freaked about this one but I want to give it a shot.
I'm sure if you felt that confident about the number of answers you did then you probably have it in the bag! Lots of luck to you! Pattie

I have grown to like the Demystified series of books quite a bit. Bite-sized chapters, very little fluff, ten-question quizzes at the end of each chapter, and a "final exam" at the end of the book. I used them for Statistics, Finance, and Managerial Accounting. They are occasionally weak in some specific areas, but they are typically more than enough to pass your exam. -Gary- |

Passed Intro to Computers DSST with a 68 and Intro to Educational Psych CLEP with a 69 yesterday and will be back with results from MIS DSST and Here's to your Health DSST tonight.
I have a strong background in computers as my Dad has been in the IT feild since I've been alive pretty much and we have always had a computer all the way back to a Tandy 1000 where you did everything in DOS because there was no Windows 3.1 yet. I built my computer that I am using right now myself so that helped with things like RAM and processor speeds etc. Basically I just took the Peterson's practice exams to learn some of the programing stuff and reviewed the IC flash cards which both came in handy. For Educational Psych I used the exam specific post on this forum Here and used the suggestions from Snazzlefrag looking most of it up on Wiki-pedia and that was enough. I honestly felt under prepared but obviously did well enough to pass. I was suggest knowing something about z-scores and T-scores and how they relate. I had about 3-4 questions on that. |

Just got back from the testing center and passed 2 more. Here's to your Health with a 66 and MIS with a 67.
I felt like the Management Information Systems exam was written in a way that made it harder than it was. I felt kind of unsure while taking it as the questions didn't always seem straight forward and the choices made it seem like 2 answers were right at times. All in all neither was bad though. 4 down 20 some more to go.
