    Default Question regarding DSST exam

I've been studying for the Here's To Your Health test, I'm taking it on Monday (I was scheduled to take it today... but things didn't work out) anyway. I've been doing really well with the flashcards. I'm just wondering how technical the test wording is. I am getting almost all the flashcard answers correct, just problems with spelling and not the right word formation i.e. independant vs independance or dependant vs dependancy. Is this going to be a problem? Thanks for any input!

Default My Personal Hints On Using The IC Cards

If you're going through the cards and getting them ALL right, you are ready for the test. Be sure to concentrate on the ones you are missing, write the question number down and at the end of the test, use the review option to go back over the question again and again and again until you no longer miss it. Then, after you don't miss any, go over each section again, using the scramble function to ask the questions out of order. This keeps you from memorizing the order in which they are asked. After you can go through them using the scramble method, and not miss any, you ARE ready for the test.

When I first started IC, I too used to type the answers in. I found it VERY irritating when I would misspell a word and get it wrong (I'm studying the test, not typing). In turn, I simply stopped typing the answer and just did it all in my head using the method above. I usually go through each section 4-5 times to to get to where I have them memorized, I don't start writing down the ones that I missed until the third round as I'm still learning up to that point. For me this method has proven very effective, may I add very boring, but effective. My mantra is: Memorize, Regurgitate, Brain Dump, Start Process on next test; not a pretty mental picture but it works. Hope this helps! Good Luck and let us know how your first one went. Lee

I took this test a while back and passed. I don't remember anything that was on the exam. I do remember that I took it cold...no study....no instacert...nothing......maybe luck or maybe it is just an easy exam....I graduated high school in the bottom quartile of my class....If I can pass that exam cold, anyone can. Good Luck!

Default Test Post-Poned a few days - Thanks

Thank you for both your replies... I really appreciate the tips. I was suppose to take the test this morning, I stayed up late studying (probably a bad idea) then this morning woke up to lots of snow. Due to poor driving conditions, my test was rescheduled for Wednesday. I'm anxious to get this test over with, but grateful for a couple extra days to study. So.... if there are any other helpful suggestions I would appreciate it.

Did you download the DSST test outline with sample questions? How did you do on those? Going thru the outline, are you familiar with everything they have outlined? If not, google what you don't know or use Wikipedia.

I'm pretty sure there is extensive information on this exam if you do a search of the postings.

    Default You sound ready

I took this test back in Dec and got an A. It was the easiest of any CLEP or DSST I've taken to date. I didn't think this test was near as technical as I expected it to be. If you've hit IC's cards well, you'll do fine.

    Good luck!

    Thumbs up

I took this test using IC only, I passed, what I would tell you is that make sure you read and know the explanations given below the flash card answer.
I noticed that many questions come from the explanation below the answer.
It was my first Exam ever in Regards to Dantes and Clep.

    Default Test taken..

Thank you for your replies. I took the test today.. I'm a bit uneasy about it. Hoping that I passed, but still questioning if I did ok. I studied faithfully with IC, I got to the point where I got every answer right with mixing the questions up..... but when I looked at the test - Holy Cow.... not much made sense. Very little of what I studied was on the test I took. The only cancer question was about Breast Cancer, no Reproductive system questions, there were 2 STD questions, but neither were STD's that were covered in the Flashcards. I'm a little bummed out, I think I was over confident going in. We'll see in a few weeks how I did.

Default ssnelsen: Your Reaction Feeling Is Normal

What you are experiencing is called PTTTS (Post Traumatic Test Taking Syndrome ) This has been documented by nearly every member posting on these forums that are waiting on their results. I think we subconsciously forget the questions we knew, and focus on the ones missed/not sure of. In the end, if you studied to the degree you said you did, you'll be fine. Take the night off, have a glass of wine and watch a movie, then start on the next one tomorrow. Worrying is a waste of time as nothing good ever comes from it. I'm sure you did fine and that will be evident in the score you receive. Good luck on your next one and get used to the feeling, it'll be with you until you finish. Lee
