Hi Everyone

First I am so amazed about how much information there is on this forum.

I have a question and would like to hear some advice and what others think

How much should one spend on materials and books for Exam preparation.

I did a search on Macro and Micro Economics and I found different suggestions and books, by the time I was finished I had already book about 3 book from Amazon costing me about $40 totals.

How much is to much or too little; money wise and material wise

You input will be highly appreciated

That would depend entirely on the person, their comprehension level, financial status, allotted budget, and length of time to reach their graduation goal.

I have spent $70....total, for 51 hours of school in the last 6 months. That was for an English class I took on base (see other posts). The rest of the tests were completed with IC ($20 X 6 months=$120.00), free internet resources, and a few books from the library. I am able to grasp the IC guide's information and convert it into passed tests, some people don't like IC and the process doesn't work for them.

There are some on this forum who like to get as many resources as possible and study for 2-3 weeks per test, this works for them and they usually have very high GPAs as well.

Then finally we have the ones who simply rather go to a brick and mortar class because they feel they are learning more.

It is an individual feeling out process. It all depends on what works for you, how much time you want to spend preparing for each test, and how much money you can allot. In the end, it all comes down to how much that passed test is worth to you.

I have been able to get many of the study books from my local library. Most of the time they have to "order" the book in. I just call in and give them the ISBN, name of book and author and for the most part I've had good success. The down side is it can take a few weeks for the book to arrive and you can only have the book for a couple weeks - but it's free

It depends on how bad you want to pass and how high a score you want. I pick up used books on amazon and save a lot that way. I have no problem dropping money on diffrent books because I still am saving a ton of money by testing out. For 60 or 70 dollars worth of books you can test out of a 700 or 900 dollar course. Still a deal. The extra money also pays off in not having to test again because you nailed it the first time. Read the book reviews on amazon to see the best books to use. The 20 a month on intsantcert has probaly saved you thousands already.

Somewhere between $60.00 - $100.00 (Includes books, videos, and IC).

Invest a little, save a lot and get credits FAST without having to shell out thousands and waste time in a classroom with the kiddies.

Also, it's very easy to resell the books you bought on Ebay or Half.com and then you recoup about 75% of the expense. Our local library has saved me a fortune. They even have CLEP and DSST books you can borrow. The great thing about credit by examination is that you don't have to buy the most recent edition.

Don't forget about Dummies and Idiots books. They usually do a really good job of quickly filling in some of the blanks and they're easy to read.

I bought a psychology, sociology, economics, algebra, geology, managment, history of the middle east, and early American history book from there. All editions were within 2 years old.
Total Price: 8 bucks!!!
Two of the books even had CD-Roms in them!
People seem to dump these books into the drop off bin without realizing you can bring them back to your college bookstore for money. Oh well, my gain!
