I have been studying for the English Comp w/essay and have found the fill in the blank portion to be a bear. Choosing which error a sentence has is rough. Has anyone taken the exam and what can you tell me about it?
Thanks |

I took English Comp w/o the essay. I used a practice test at Petersons.com and study for about 2 hours one day. The acutal test is not nearly as rough as the practice tests. It is mostly reading comprehension and sentence correction.

Definitely the hardest part of this exam (at least for me) was the essay part. They just seem to just randomly choose a subject. I studied for about 1 1/2 weeks for this test. The rest of it (the other half) seemed way too easy for college english. I was thoroughly surprised. But I would really practice writing on some random subjects and timing yourself. The Petersons CLEP Success book and the Collegboard Official CLEP study guide both have sample questions you can practice on. A lady told me that it was mostly a matter of forming your paragraphs right and having the intro and conclusion. So if you can form it right, then that'll greatly help you. Good luck!
