    Default Dantes Technical Writing

Has anyone taken this? What would be the best way to study up for this exam - I don't think REA has a book and I don't think its covered on IC.

No. No IC. I haven't heard of a REA. I'm presently studying this one too. I know the DSST website (The DSST Program) has practice tests, and some sample questions on their fact sheet. http://getcollegecredit.com/pdfs/fac...%20Writing.pdf I have the book Handbook of Technical Writing. It was recommended to me, and also my friend used it for this test, and passed. But it's like reading a dictionary. I guess it's not that difficult of a test, but lots of rules. So if you're good at English Comp. it'll help tons.

Thumbs up It's not that bad...

This exam focuses on stuff like writing an engineering bulletin etc. The answers seemed VERY obvious to me and I am no writing genius by any means. It asked questions about memos, very basic grammar structures etc. This was by and far the easiest Dantes I had ever taken. Sorry I don't remember any specific questions that come to mind. If you can answer even 3/4ths of the practice exam correct you are totally in the zone for this one.
    Good luck!

How much studying did you do? I'm reading that dictionary book, and I'm not really liking it. Do you think I have to read A-Z rules, etc.? How long did you take to prepare for this test?

I appreciate what you said, though. Very helpful.

Cool I hate to say it...

I didn't study at all for this one. I have had to write some reports for work, but would not consider myself above par at all. I got a 56 on this one. I have used the Mcgraw Hill Book Technical Writing and Professional Communications (The greatest writing book EVEEEER!) in the past and perused it, but nothing serious beyond a little info here and there. I have a feeling that if you overstudy this one you will be very bummed out when it comes time to take the test. My advice is to look at the sections on the Dantes study guide that it will hit you one, study another night and call it good! You seem very dedicated and ready to hit the books, but I don't think this test will be a challenge to you!

Thanks a bunch! My test is Monday. I took a practice test from the DSST website and got 54%. So hopefully!
