    Default Wishful Thinking about Humanities?

I’m sure this is a stupid questions but, I couldn't find the answer anywhere else in the forum.

On all the Humanities practice quizzes there are 150 questions. To score a 50 and pass do you need to get 50% (75) or just 33% (50)?

The topic is insanely broad. I've been studying for a month and I only get about 46% from Petersons and 56% from the Comix. (in addition to 90% of the instantcert flashcards)

Humanities was a tough one for me. I spent a lot of time on it. I knew I was ready when things started connecting. I could connect one artist with this time period or that drawing, or I could name other books this author wrote and what they were about, or I could say "Oh yeah, and he did this this and this too". When it started coming together, I was ready. But don't be discouraged cause it's broad; you'll get it. And it sounds like you're doing pretty good already.

    Smile humanities

I just took the humanities CLEP last week and passed with a 63. I bought poster board and divided it up between the different time periods (classical, medieval, renaissance, 17th and 18th centuries, 19th century and 20th century) I wrote down famous people and what they were famous for (ie Shakespeare wrote: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Twelfth Night etc) using different color sharpies for each time period. I also printed out pictures from the internet of art and architecture to give me a visual picture of who did what when. Be sure that you recognize famous sayings from Shakespeare's plays and who said them. I really only studied using IC and wikipedia. For me writing it down on a big poster board really helped cement it all in my mind

    Good luck!

To pass any CLEP exam the general rule of thumb is to correctly answer at least half or better. Remember, all scores are percentiles not percents.

You can pull your hair out trying to figure out what your exact percentile score is based on the number of questions you answered correctly so just try to answer no less than half correctly and you should be in the ballpark.

You just have to get on base to pass so don't feel that you have to swing for the fences everytime your're up to bat........except if you're A-Rod!!
