Has anyone taken Analyzing and Interpreting Literature with essay? Has anyone taken two essay exams in one day?

I am planning on taking English Comp with essay and A & I Lit with essay on the 15th.

    Default Essay

I know that it was optional when I took mine which was pretty recent but it wasn't required by my school and usually the only reason it is needed is because the school won't accept the credits unless the essay is taken. I would definitely verify that you needed to take the essay for A I. Its a given that you have to take it for Comp. Speaking of which will excelsior still accept the credits from English with essay?

I actually took both those tests in the same day last month. You don't have to do A & I with the essay. It is optional. It took me about 3 hours to do both tests but it was worth it. The english essay was not bad and neither was the A & I. Just pace yourself and you will be okay. As long as you follow the proper format, correct spelling, etc. for the essay when you are doing the english, you will be fine. It may seem as though you are not going to pass on the A & I but just go with your gut feeling. Look for similarities in the answers to help you figure out what the question is asking. I was clueless with this exam but this and english were my highest scores. Good Luck!!!

I spoke with the College Board and Old Dominion University several weeks ago and CLEP offers an essay option, and ODU requires it for a 3 credit perspective class in Literature. They also require an essay with the History I exam. I don't mind doing this, as I have little choice, but wondered if anyone else had experience with the essay version of A & I Literature. I guess I'm charting some new waters here; might as well plunge ahead ...

    Just an update:

I chickened out on taking both exams in one day after I was told the A & I Literature w/ essay has two essay prompts. I took English Comp w/ essay last week and am taking A&I Lit w/ essay on Thursday.

College Board doesn't give much information on the A&I Literature w/ essay version. The customer service rep told me there would be only one essay prompt at 45 minutes, but said they didn't have a break down of information. My proctor is telling me the actual booklet she has in hand from College Board has two essay prompts to be written in a total of 90 minutes. The essay on this exam is still paper and pencil, and it costs $10 extra to take the essay version (essay booklet must be sent to testing center from ETS). I've taken the Official Guide test for the multiple choice questions, and scored in the 70's. The essay makes me nervous though. I'll post something Thursday night.

Ok! I took this test Thursday. I had a very hard time finding any information on the essay section, as if this version was scarcely ever given. If anyone out there is forced to take a side road less travelled, here is some feedback on Analyzing & Interpreting Literature WITH ESSAY:

    - It is TWO ESSAYS in 90 minutes. It is recommended to use 45 minutes per essay, but it is a blanket time for both essays. I used 55 minutes for my first essay and the rest for my second.

    - The first essay has to do with poetry. I was asked to analyze a poem on love by a famous "poetress". The second is a question requiring you to write on a reputed literary work that you have read.

    - The essay is scored by the university that requests it, not ETS.

    - Don't be scared by this exam, but I would recommend taking it after English Comp with essay or Humanities if you know that you must all of them.

My Glitch: After taking several CLEP exams, one would assume that he is finally immune to making "stupid mistakes" with the testing software. Alas, I was on my second to last question in the multiple choice section, and I accidentally pushed the "ahead" icon too many times, ending the exam with probably 5 questions unanswered. I thought I either failed or passed by the skin of my teeth. I cannot express the utter joy when a 62 was unveiled on the screen. I felt very good about the essays, and am eagerly awaiting the results. We'll see.

Best wishes to anyone that has to take the essay section, and I hope some of this information can help you!
