Default First Exam....went to take MIS and.....

I'm ticked off. No, not because I didn't pass but I couldn't take the test! This past Monday I called the testing center at Washtenaw Community College (Ann Arbor, MI) and scheduled the test for 9am this morning.

I go to the testing center this morning and there is a sign on the door. "Testing Center closed until 11am due to Staff Meeting". No one informed me of this when I scheduled my exam and not one person made an effort to call me this week. Thus.....I'm ticked.

I couldn't wait until 11am because my wife and I have plans today. The testing center is getting an earful from me on Monday.

Sorry to hear about that. That's never any fun when things like that happen. The least that testing centers could do is show a bit of courtesy & make a proactive effort to let people know of such things.

I would try to find another testing center, unless they are apologetic and insist it won't happen again. My local community college--in a very rural, small Arkansas town--tends to have an attitude of superiority as if they are doing students a favor when the staff actually lowers themselves to help students. It's truly sad. As I told the registrar, "I thought community colleges where supposed to help people better themselves". Sadly, many schools care more about the money than its students; many more lack general courtesy and respect for those that utilize the services of the taxpayer funded college.

    Best wishes on your reschedule!

Boy those stories are awful. I take my CLEP and DANTES at Frederick Community College in Frederick MD. The people are great. I'm in there twice a week or more and they try to give me the same computer, make sure I have everything I need and always wish me good luck on the test.

Something like that happened to me one time. The lady left and went to lunch because she wrote the wrong time down that I was coming. Anyway when I did finally take the exam, I passed it by a couple points. My point is that everything happens for a reason because maybe I had to review a little more before I was ready to take the test. If I had taken it that day, I might have not passed.....The glass is always half full

Hey maybe they could waive the testing fee for being at their center and just pay DANTEs the $70.00....

bargain with them ....i dont know if it will work .....

I am blessed to have a great testing center where I missed some appointments and rescheduled my exams......

I hope you find a better center...

Well....I called today and rescheduled for the 14th. I relayed my concerns to the woman on the phone. She told me "We tried calling all week and you don't have an answering machine." My wife is a stay-at-home mom. And we have VM. VM that works. And Caller ID. They never called.

Next she told me that they "hand wrote" a message to knock on the door loudly. I told her there was absolutely NO writing on the sign. At this point I was ready to say "Tell me another lie, please."

I tried to get them to waive the $25 test center fee but they wouldn't go for it. Oh well....I have another week to "study". Even though I've been in IT for 16 years.

Took it this morning and passed with a 62. No outside studying at all. Some of the terms and processes in the test were completely foreign to me even after working in IT for 16 years. Definitely a case where the "book" doesn't match real world experience.

This was my first test and now I'm psyched to plow through the rest.

Congratulations! The first test is usually the hardest because of confidence issues. Happy Studying!
