    Red face English Comp Question

I plan on taking the English Comp next week. Do I need to know the definitions of any of the different parts of speech...ex: pronoun-antecedent, correlative conjunction, dangling modifier? I can pretty much tell when a sentence is poorly written and can usually rewrite it but if I actually have to explain what I'm doing, I may be in a little trouble!

This all depends on which English Comp test you're taking. I do believe there are some questions concerning these word structures on any English test you take. There are plenty of sites on the net that can help you with these, I would be sure to leave myself plenty of time to brush up before I took the test. If you are referring to the CLEP 6-credit English test, I took it blind and earned a 67. It was not too tough but be sure to read very fast as you can run out of time quite easily. It really all comes down to your comprehension level and how much you write. Perhaps you can use the search function on this site and get more feedback from others who have taken other types of English tests? Good luck either way, Lee

    Default Thanks...

I do plan on taking the 6-credit CLEP. I will definitely take some time to study these as well. I just wasn't sure how much of the definitions I would need to know. Again, thanks for your help!
