skwiggey, I think you were asking Basket Weaver if he tried using the method discussed in Section 3 of Excelsior guide, right? Because now that I see where you got that info from and what exactly it says, it sure DOES sound like mjno could use that to meet Excelsior's WER requirement, which is fantastic! So I say "go for it" mjno and get that letter from Regis!! Let us know what happens...hopefully you WILL come back with good news. Good luck! JoAnne P.S. I sure wish Regis had offered the same alternative for the College Algebra requirement....it would have saved me a lot of "grief"! |

Sorry about that, I was wondering why you'd ask that question. It appears as though Kiwi Lover took care of this already; Thanks JoAnne

Thanks,
I will be sending my transcripts to Excelsior later this week and will let everyone know what the results of their evaluation was regarding my English credits, (as well as the rest of the transferred credits). Thanks again to everyone who replied. |

I talked to an admissions counselor about this. She then called an advisor about to ask about this issue. She was told that section 3 will not work if it is based on CLEP with essay

Skwiggey, Thanks for the Information,
My question to your reply is how would Excelsior know that the credits were clep based? Besides, if excelsior does not accept my English credits from Regis it will still be to my advantage to transfer and just take the ECE English exam,(at which point I'll ask questions regarding that exam). I just sent in for my evaluation and will let everyone know what they say. Thanks again, Mike |

Hi Mike, To answer your question, if your transcript from Regis University looks anything like mine, then the English CLEP exam you took would be listed in a separate section entitled "Competency-Based Credit" and below that "Credit by Exam: CLEP". So unfortunately there is no "hiding" it. Hopefully the ECE English exam won't be too bad, although I see that we don't have ANY feedback on that one yet...looks like you'll have to be our guinea pig!!! JoAnne |

I am in the same boat. I went through this discussion last week with my advisor at Excelsior.
I took an English proficiency test through the University of Phoenix to meet their graduation requirements... which I passed. ... Then I had the registrar of U of Phoenix send an official letter to Excelsior claiming that I had met the English Requirements for a University of Phoenix diploma. I followed the Excelsior catalog to the tee, but Excelsior said that they would not accept it unless it was on a transcript. If the exam had to be listed on a transcript, then why did they give option C? Beats me?!? I think that I will appeal this, but I haven't done it yet. Please keep us posted.
