Question CLEP Psychology exam group – which test first?

    This summer I am taking:

    CLEP Intro to Psychology
    CLEP Educational Psychology
    CLEP Human Growth and Development

Any suggestions on which one I should start with (which one would supply the best information base to prepare me for the other 2). I have no previous knowledge of psych.

    Thanks

    Hi Rachelle,

Since you have no previous knowledge of Psych, I would suggest that you take Intro to Psychology first. It will introduce you to some key figures, terminology, and concepts that you can then build on for the other Psych exams.

Personally, I would then take Human Growth since that exam introduces you to Educational Psych. That way, each exam builds on knowledge gained in the previous exam.

    1) Intro to Psych
    2) Human Growth & Development
    3) Educational Psychology

I think that would be a good order.

    Hope that helps,
    Snazzlefrag

Thanks Snazzlefrag, I was just wondering which test of either #2 or #3 I should take first. Your advice came at the perfect time for me!

I would also suggest that if you can (or need to) also take Intro to Sociology first as this is a good lead in to the Psych, HG&D, and Ed Psych exams.

    Good Luck!!

    Hi Snazzlefrag!
As always your advice has proven to be golden. Yesterday I took Human Growth & Development and scored a 69. This morning I turned around and took Educational Psychology and scored a 70.

I felt that the Human Growth and Development test was very difficult and was wondering if I passed and yet I found the Educational Psychology to be easy and only scored one point higher. Go figure. I am very happy with my scores and passes. Onto my ECE Psychology tests.

    yutzyj:

When you took Human Growth & Development then took Educational Psychology did you study for each individually, or just use your previous knowledge from learning human growth and development to take Educational Psychology ?

    Thanks! Rachelle

Great scores! Congrats and good luck on the ECE tests. There are a lot of good posts on those and the IC guides are the ticket to continued success. Lee

    Hi Rachelle-
Sorry for the delay in answering your question. It was a big weekend for us. To answer your questions yes and yes. I was on a whirlwind for me of testing. I studied for HG&D and took the test and then I read all of InstantCert for Ed Psych and made sure I understood everything and took a chance on taking the test. I thought I knew enough to pass BEFORE I took the test. I can't afford to fail any tests at this point of my journey. Good luck to you if you decide to take these tests and let us know how it goes.
