Default Principles of Finance Upper Level Credit?

I really enjoy this forum. Hopefully someone can help me out here. I finally got an official evaulation late today. The advising office I'm sure is closed till monday and i'm wanting to graduate as soon as possible.

I was told I need two more upper level courses. However, I took principles of finance at a community college and I notice there is a dantes class called principles of finance that is awarded upper level credit. I did call a few weeks ago and asked if principles of finance would be upper level and that i took it at a community college but they said classes taken at a community college are always lower level.

Is this accurate? If it is the same course, why would I get lower level credit at a brick and mortar but upper level with dantes?

If they are wrong then I only have one more class to go. This would be very welcome news. As always, I know Excelsior has the final word, but can anyone chime in? Better yet, has anyone taken principles of finance at a community college (or university) and received upper level credit?

    Thanks!

Yes, all courses at a Community College are considered lower level credit. However, you can take the DANTES Principles of Finance exam and eliminate the lower level finance course. That is up to you, but you can only use one towards your degree.

    I would second blueyzz28's advice.

    Hi WSC,

Are you working towards a BS-Business degree with Excelsior? The reason I ask is because the DANTES Principles of Finance exam is used to meet the core requirement for "Financial Management" for the BS-Business degree. However, even though that exam IS upper level, it is not one of the exams that can be applied towards the 12 credits required for upper level classes. Does that make sense?

If you are working towards a BS-Business with Excelsior, these are the ONLY upper level exams that can be applied towards "Advanced Level Business Credits":
    1. DSST Business Law II
    2. DSST Money & Banking
    3. DSST Management Information Systems
    4. ECE Organizational Behavior
    5. ECE Human Resources Management
    6. ECE Labor Relations
    7. ECE Ethics: Theory & Practice

    I hope that helps!
