What easy exam to take for 1.5 UL Arts and Sciences @ Excelsior? I'm 1.5 UL credits short of graduation.

I realize Dantes Drug and Alc is easy enough, but it won't work. ECE Adulthood and Aging has been recommended as an easy one, anything else?

How about DSST MIS?

I think they told me that since it's an Applied Professional, no good. I need Arts and Sciences.

Time for another opinion besides mine... I thought that Arts and Sciences covered most anything.

"Arts & Sciences" does cover a whole lot of subjects. It is the umbrella category for any subject which is considered humanities, social science & history, or natural science & math. Obviously that is a very broad grouping and it does cover most of the classic/traditional general education type courses.

However, there are some subjects which Excelsior consider to fall outside of the scope of ANY of the above areas. Such subjects are placed in the ultimate 'catch-all' category called "Applied Professional".

Some of the business courses, for example, are counted as Applied Professional when not taken as part of a business degree. In addition, Here's to Your Health, Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Intro to law Enforcement, Information Literacy, and Fundamentals of Counseling are all considered Applied Professional by Excelsior.

For most of us, it is important to know the difference between the AP courses and the A&E courses because the non-business degrees require a minimum number of arts & science credits (60 or 90 depending on BS or BA).

Since most of us make up the 60 or 90 credits using lots of elective subjects, it is very easy to accidentally take Applied Professional credits when we actually need A&E credits instead. However, once the 60 or 90 A&E minimum has been reached, any remaining elective credits can be from either AP or A&E subjects.

Excelsior has an excellent publication called "A Student Guide To Credit by Examination at Excelsior College". It lists all the exams and tells in which category they fit.
You do not have to be enrolled but you do have to be registered to view this.
