They have a "Statistical Quality Control" course, which is akin to an applied statistics course by the looks of the description. I would assume this to not cover any requirement specifically asking for "Statistics"

Just to be absolutely safe, I would definitely have Excelsior give you a written verification that they do accept this course as meeting their WER requirement (they need to add it to your "Approved Courses" list, which I believe is only possible if you are enrolled).

    Just my two cents'....

    Hi Jay,
Since you are registering for an English class, I will need placement test scores showing that you are ready to take a college level english class. You may contact irene.macias@colostate-pueblo.edu and she can help you with completing placement testing. Once this is done we can register you for the English class. If I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me.

I wonder if they would accept a passing score on CLEP English Comp or CLEP Freshman College Comp as proof of competency?

As I understand, the Eng Comp course was JUST APPROVED last month. The friend of mine who took the PFC Eng Comp course has already had it listed on his EC Status Report.

    · Textbooks and Learning Aid included

Listed below are some of the institutions that have accepted Penn Foster College credits according to our recent survey:

    Snazz,

I was just looking at the WER section in Excelsior's catalog, and it says "Excelsior College does not accept the CLEP General Examination in English Composition with Essay toward this requirement". Is that the exam you were thinking of??

    Kiwi

Kiwi, I think that Snazz was talking about using the English Clep exams in lui of a placement test at CSU-Pueblo for their Independent Study English course.

Am I picking up what you're laying down, Snazz?

If that is the case... I would have no idea. But, it's worth looking into.

I just checked back on the ACE site right now, and ENG 100 has finally showed up in their listings of reviewed PFC Courses. For those not wanting to bother registering on ACE, the full review is as follows:
    Quote:
    English Composition (ENG 100)
    Organization Course Number: (ENG 100)
    ACE Transcript Data: ICS-0194
    Organization: Penn Foster College
    Location: Independent Self-Study.
    Length: Distance Education Program
    Dates: January 2003 – Present
Description: Independent Self-Study. Student will be able to create sentences that mean exactly what is intended without the reader doing extra work, make a point simply but emphatically and back it up with persuasive evidence, maintain the reader's interest no matter how uninteresting the subject matter might be, use the best approach to begin each piece of writing and recognize when it is truly finished, and apply the strategies professional writers use, from brainstorming and freewriting to outlining, from creating sentences and paragraphs to revising and editing.
Objective: To develop effective writing skills for a specific purpose and audience.
Learning Outcome: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to create sentences that mean exactly what is intended without the reader doing extra work, make a point simply but emphatically and back it up with persuasive evidence, maintain the reader's interest no matter how uninteresting the subject matter might be, use the best approach to begin each piece of writing and recognize when it is truly finished, and apply the strategies professional writers use, from brainstorming and freewriting to outlining, from creating sentences and paragraphs to revising and editing.
Instruction: Major topics covered in the course are grammar basics, the writing process, descriptive writing, narrative writing, reflective writing, and persuasive writing. Methods of instruction include self study, study guide, textbooks, lesson exams, and a final proctored examination.
Credit Recommendation: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in English Composition (6/07).

So again, great news for myself in the future, and for others looking to pick up a quick/cheap WER course for transfer.

Yeah, well, I obviously can't read! Maybe I need to take that English class...oh wait...if I can't read, then I definitely can't write!! (and no comments from the peanut gallery!! Basket Weaver)

Thanks for pointing that out Mr. Gold Miner! Oh, and good luck with MIS on Monday...I'm rooting for you! Do great!
