    Default Excelsior honors

Does Excelsior award those funny "cums" like real colleges do to those graduating with high gpa's? What would 3.7 get me?

    traffic,

Yes, Excelsior does indeed award those "funny cums" to those graduating with high GPA's. To answer your question, 3.7 would "get you" the designation of "magna cum laude" on your diploma. The breakdown is as follows:

GPA 3.5 or higher Cum laude
GPA 3.65 or higher Magna cum laude
GPA 3.8 or higher Summa cum laude

I have to say that while watching some of the graduation ceremonies yesterday, I thought it was VERY COOL to hear them say--after they announced the graduate's name--which honors distinction that graduate had earned. For example, "Robert Jason White, Summa cum laude".

That does give me an added incentive to boost my GPA. Not that I needed one, it's just not where I need it to be right now.

Kiwi, I think the figures you have are incorrect. Looking at the most recent Business degree catalog (and the one directly preceding it), for both AS and BS the following figures are given:

    Honors/Cum Laude: 3.5
    High Honors/Magna Cum Laude: 3.75
    Highest Honors/Summa Caude Laude: 3.9

Honors being AS, Latin honors being BS.

You're right! I thought all schools were the same, and I was actually quoting from another website. I stand corrected...thank you!!

    Depends on the subject.

Here's the Excelcior breakdown (pp 24-25) for Dantes. Mid-50's are usually enough for an A, high 40's - B and C.
