I took 4 years of English in high school, more than a few years ago, took the CLEP cold and earned an A; just watch your time and read quickly. It sounds as though it would be an excellent start for you. Humanities could be another story; depending on well versed/interested you are in the Arts. As for me, I took Analyzing and Interpreting Literature instead as it was worth the same credits for a whole lot less study .
