I've gone through and looked at a bunch of the old threads but I want to get a clear consensus from y'all.
If I use the Comex guide and IC for CLEP Prin. of Management, and then do JUST IC and the DSST practice exam/review for DSST Prin. of Supervision, should that earn me a comfortable pass on Prin. of Supervision? Thanks! |

I don't think it matters which order you take them in. The goal is to take them both at the same time, or as close to each other as possible. The theories, concepts, and personalities are the same for both exams. It's just that Principles of Supervision focuses on lower-level line managers, whereas Principles of Management covers ALL levels of management, from Line Supervisors all the way up to the CEO. Thus, as you study for the Supervision exam, you will simultaneously be preparing for parts of the Management exam. For this reason, and only if you CANNOT take both exams on the same day, I would probably suggest that you prepare for Principles of Supervision first, and then apply that knowledge of lower-level management to your preparation for Principles of Management with its additional focus on mid and upper-level management. Seriously though....just take them both at the same time if possible. Hope that helps, Snazzlefrag

Studyhard, I just took DSST Principles of Supervision yesterday. I got a 58 (A). All I used were instantcert flashcards and I googled the specific items in the exam specific feedback. That, and some common sense, will get you an A. Those specific items in the exam specific feedback were on the test, like they said. I studied an hour a day for one week; then I crammed a few hours before the test. Flashcards are enough for an A. The flashcards are right on track with the test, in my opinion.

Excelsior College has a publication (downloadable pdf document) called "Guide to Credit by Examination". You have to go through the free online registration process to access it, I believe. Find the Publications Request option on your "MY EC" page. It will have a huge list of their publications available for download... that is, of course, if you are an Excelsior College student or prospective student. Anyway, each college may handle DSST and CLEP scores differently. Hope this helps ![]()
