bain4weeks question
I arrived here via looking for info on bain4weeks
I understand this is a similar program I am wondering if anyone here familiar with Excelsior TESC and COSC give me any advice on my grades and a viable course of action so my grades are as such (sorted by grade) It is not a stellar performance I know. I was an 18 year old drug addict that year. It was 10 years ago. Code:

Allow me to be the first to welcome you to the forum. Thank you for being so frank and honest, I'm happy to see you got it together and turned things around; the good Lord knows we have ALL done things in our youth we've regretted at one time or another.
I can only speak on Excelsior as they are the school I finally finished through, but when I sent my transcripts to them for a review, anything that was a "C" grade or above was accepted. I would recommend you contact the Excelsior Addmissions department and see what they have to say; the call is free and the worst that can happen is they say no, though I don't think that will be the case. https://www.excelsior.edu/ Again, welcome and good luck in your educational endeavors. Yeah, the best you can hope for is to get them to not show up, but even then, it's not going to help much because when you try to get into grad school most schools require transcripts from every school previously attended--not just from the degree granting institution.
If you're going toward grad school, my advice would be to do your best to show that you've risen above this. Get your degree with as many good grades as you can, then study like heck for the GRE or whatever test you need, then present the early grades as youthful immaturity. You probably won't get into Harvard that way, but it may get you in at a lot of places.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry too much about the undergraduate degree GPA.
IMO, just get the degree (it's a checkbox) and worry about Harvard later. ...and I disagree with a previous poster that you won't get into Harvard with a low GPA. If you follow the link below, you will see that some schools at Harvard (in this case, Harvard Extension's ALM) offer open enrollment with zero mention of undergrad GPA. http://www.extension.harvard.edu/200...ams/alm/admit/ Just so you know. Harvard Extension
The only catch to Harvard extension is that you must live at the extension for 2 semesters sometime during your program.

Where are you Calihunter? You posted ONCE nearly ONE MONTH ago and haven't replied as of yet....
 Please do not become discouraged by any postings or your lack of faith in what many of us have also had to overcome, a less than stellar beginning. Many start with zero credits while you have many more than zero - 51. My firm advice is to come back, try again and know that you CAN and WILL succeed in attaining your degree. Case in point, I resumed my degree journey in August 2004 (Age 45) with around 40 credits from when I was a kid. Inside of 3 years (2yrs 9mos) I completed two degree programs - my BS and MS with final GPA's of 3.11 and 3.26 respectively. Now (just around 48 in Oct) I am considering a doctorate degree if my finances can tolerate it. I don't need it, so wanting it may not justify it. So what do you think? You CAN and WILL do it - trust me (and many others here) it can be done and believe it or not....it was fun!! One last thing, the bain4weeks site is both informative and entertaining but not very realistic. The concept in attaining a degree is well, plausible (ala myth-busters jargon) but not very reasonable. There are no real shortcuts to this, although IC can help you find a route with a faster speed limit. You can take the B&M side streets or the Excelsior expressway it's really up to you!!

You are correct that Harvard has a residency requirement. For their Masters (ALM-IT) - it is one course in-residence. Master’s Degree in Information Technology : Harvard Extension School I plan on taking it via summer session (8 week) so it's not so onerous. And, I agree with ShotoJuku's post below. I graduated with a 2.3 undergrad - and am currently enrolled in Harvard's ALM. Point being that hard work can overcome most of life's obstacles (including low GPAs). Greg

I have a few "freshman C's" I have been thinking about replacing. It would probably take 4 extra CLEPs to bump me into a 3.5 GPA, but my rational side is telling me that the time and expense probably won't be worth it for the extra little "Cum Laude" sticker on the diploma since I will get into grad school either way. Most employers (including mine) just care about the sheepskin. Degree? Check.
