Okay, trying to keep it quiet as to not jinx myself, I intended on taking my first CLEP exam today (Analyzing and Interpreting Eng Lit). So, I am all prepared, I look over the Petersons tests that I have taken and am feeling pretty good about taking this test.
I called the test center at 9:00AM and got the recording telling me the hours of the center. Open Monday BLAH BLAH BLAH, on Saturday 8:30AM to 1:00PM. I drive 45 minutes to get to the center, leaving myself plenty of time, just in case anything might happen, (flat, wreck on highway, spilled coffee - this is my usual thing to do when I am in a hurry). So I get to the center. There is a sign on the door, Closed - Will reopen Monday at 7:30AM.I could just scream. Now I am going to have to take 2 tests on Monday, just to make up for the aggravation of driving over there today. Wish me luck!

oh man, sorry to hear about that. that really bites. you should inquire about it when you go back on monday...hopefully they'll have a legit reason...
but on the bright side, at least you're prepared for the exam! perhaps you can relax a little and focus on the other exam during the weekend =] GOOD LUCK! |

I feel better now. I just wanted to get the A&I test out of the way before I take Financial Accounting on Monday. Now I will have to take both test on Monday to stay on target for my next test.
I am on a mission to get this degree in short order. My oldest daughter is graduating High School this year and already has more college credits than I have. I am determined to get my degree before she does. LOL

I'm sorry to hear about your experience today, but did you have an actual appointment to take the test today? Every testing center that I know of usually REQUIRES that an appointment be made ahead of time...even if it is the same day as the test (for those lucky people who have testing centers that allow that). Your testing center may not have stayed open today because as far as they knew, no was coming in today to take a test. I would hate for you to go through a similar experience again, e.g. driving 45 minutes to take a CLEP exam (without making an appointment to do so), only to arrive and find out the testing center is fully booked for that day or closed like today. Anyway, you might want to call your testing center first thing on Monday morning to make sure that you can take both tests that day. Good luck and let us know how you do. JoAnne ![]() |

Oh! How frustrating!! What degree are you going for? Did you pick a college yet? P.S. Good for your daughter too, more bright high school kids should take a few credits in high school!!

I am enrolled in Excelsior, going for a Bachelor in General Business. Yes on the daughter - she started taking concurrent enrollment in her sophmore year and has racked up 24 credits in 2 years plus going to high school. She is surely making me challenge myself to get this degree. Quote:
I talked to a friend of mine who also was going to take a test yesterday and found out what happened. Fist of all - the testing center is first come first served - it is at the Community College. They will not make appointments. As for the closing yesterday - Evidentally their network went down and so they had no access to any of the tests. The people working at the center, put a sign on the door to that affect, but it fell off and I could not see it laying on the floor. So now I am not so grumpy with them . I am still going to try to take 2 tests Monday, and then College Algebra by Friday (this one is making me nervous).

Wow, I am so sorry this happened to you. I am quite sure you were more than prepared and had that adrenaline rush to take the exam. That really stinks. I'm pulling for you that you will pass two exams in one shot! I will be doing the same on Saturday. I am driving an hour to the testing center to take two Dantes exams. I already paid my proctor fees, but if they were to have a sign on the door like that when I arrive, I would be freaking.
Good luck to you! I'm sure you will do great! Please let us know how it went.

Well, I went in to take my tests, and yes I passed all 3.
I took the A&I test first - score of 72. Then I decided since that went so well, I would go ahead and take the Financial Accounting test before lunch - score of 74. Well feeling pretty confident at this point, I thought HMMMMMMMMM! I wonder if I could pass the CLEP Info Comp Systems test, so I went and got lunch, came back - and you guessed it - a pass - score of 72. This sure makes me feel better about the little event from Saturday. 12 credits for my first day of testing - I came back and told my daughter about it and she is thinking she should now look into some of this testing stuff (her words). I may just beat her to that degree. Now back to studying College Algebra.
