    Default First DSST Test

I am planning on taking my first dsst exam - organizational behavior tomorrow (I can call and schedule same day), just how different are the computer based dantes exams compared to the clep exams. For some reason I am really, really nervous.

    Hey jec959,

I personally think the DSSTs are easier to use.
One thing to remember is that you will not be able to print your scores out at the test center like the cleps, you will have to wait till get home. The first part will be setting up your logon, pass word and other personal information. The test center should give you the prometric web site before you leave so that when you get home you can access your scores and print your reciept for the test. You will be able to see you score as soon as your done the test, you just can't print out a copy (at least where I have been testing).
Overall I did find the testing smoother than taking a clep.

    Hope that helps!

    Mike

I was really nervous at my first DSST too.

Actually, I like DSST's a little better. I dunno, I just like the screen better.

For your first one, you'll have to set up an account with a user name and password. You might want to jot it down on a piece of paper, because that's what you'll have to use to access your account later.

At my testing center you CAN print off your score right away....so just ask what the policy is there.

It's very much like a CLEP--you can mark questions, skip some, go back to some, etc. One nice thing is if you do the review at the end, the questions aren't simply numbered--they actually include the first few words of the question. I've found that helpful because some of the ones I've marked I decided I didn't want to bother going back to. So I didn't have to waste time clicking on them to find out what they were.

I don't know if it's a DSST thing or just the computers at my center, but occasionally when you click to the next question the computer will get a stuck and won't go. If that's a universal DSST thing, all I've had to do is simply go back a few questions and then try again and it works.

Overall, it's very easy and not hard to navigate at all. You'll do great!

    Default paper based exam

I was all set and planned on taking the computer based dsst and found out that they were just set up to give them computer based at my test center and they were having issues, they did however have a paper based version of the test for me to take so that is what I did. I have to wait to get my scores how long does that usually take?

Oh yeah and to top it off I decided on a whim after I finished organizational behavior to take analyzing and interpreting lit - I passed got a 65 so I am happy with that. Of course my brain is mush now.

Feedback on Organizational behavior - know all the theories most of my test was what the different theories were, who came up with them and what they are. I would never have passed with just IC & the dantes study guide, I used the online ob sites posted in the specific exam feedbacks and I think that is what will give me the pass (which I hopefully get).

For anyone who actually had to know kinds of literature for A&I I wish mine was all reading and answering questions on the reading.

It usually takes just around 3 weeks.

Here is an old thread on the topic, feel free to contribute to it.....in around 2.5 - 3 weeks.

    Default 2-3 weeks

No wonder they were so nice and loaned me pencils to take the exam with and everything, I am going to be a basket case by then. Thanks for the quick response though.

I am sure you did great on Organizational behavior, and thanks for the feedback (I have to do this one soon).

    Thanks,
