First off, Japan is a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy it for everything its worth. Second, you will still be able to take CLEP, DSST, and Excelsior exams over there. The Navy base in Japan will have a college office. The college office will offer testing services even though you will still have to pay for me. That being said:

If you are going to be studying for the CLEP Natural Sciences, I'd say go with the DSST Principles of Physical Science I for that pesky 1 credit. I'd imagine that they would completment one another.

The American or English Literature, I have a question on. Are you seeking to save money by consolidating exams into 6 credit ones? If not you may want to consider perhaps DSST Technical Writing and DSST Ethics in America. Both are counted as Humanities by Thomas Edison.

If you need one of those two specifically, pair it with your CLEP Humanities. I'd say to do the Literature first, that way you have in depth knowledge when it comes time for Humanties.

The CLEP Social Science I would save for last. I say this because it is a very broad exam. You also have a lot of Social Science CLEP, DSST, and TECEP scheduled. Do those 24 credits first, by the time you get around to the CLEP Social Science you probably won't really need to put forth any effort by that point.

For your Social Science credits, would Introductory Psychology be acceptable to fill up 3 of those credits? If you've already passed Human Growth, Educational Psychology, and Sociology; you'd probably find that one to be fairly easy. I do believe you would have already taught yourself most of the knowledge you'd need.

Lastly, consider the DSST Financial Accounting. Given how much joy you recieved preparing for the CLEP Principles of Accounting (I do believe you said it was soul-inspiring and heavenly) simply to recapture the good old days of preparing for Accounting. While this will serve no purpose towards your degree, with any luck you will recapture every moment of your accounting preparation. I do believe you enjoyed it about as much as myself.

    Great reply Rusty Pipe.

As to Japan, I lived there 15 years (5 in Okinawa, 8 in Tokyo, and 2 in Misawa) and loved it, PM me if you have any questions about the place. More than likely you're going to Yokusuka Naval Station?

Thank you so much for the advice. Actually I picked those exams to cut down on the time it would take for me to finish. I already have Intro to Psych for credits. Accounting kicked my butt big time. I am not sure I will get anymore credit for taking the DSST one. They gave me credit for the clep acct under my free electives area which is fulfilled. I need you guys to help me with the best route to finish up my degree.

Do you know what category Human Services falls under (Intro to Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Fund of Counseling, Here's to your health)? I wonder if any of those tests will fit under my social science/natural/Humanities area?

What do you think about these exams: Intro to World Religions, Intro to Computing, Environment and Humanity? They don't seem too difficult.

Basically everything I need in order to finish has to fall under Humanities, Natural Science, or Social Science.

I am nervous and excited about moving to Japan. We will be going to Sasebo. My hubby is on one of the ships there. We have to sell our house, cars, furniture, etc. I know they offer cleps there but they only have certain colleges there that don't equate to what Thomas Edison has. I don't know that I can finish up through Thomas Edison there. If I can, then I won't worry. My biggest concern is leaving my little girl behind (15 pd shitzu dog). I will send for her but I heard its crazy trying to bring a dog over there....

Thank you so much for all your help. I have to do my overseas screening today so wish us luck!

I am happy to know there are other people heading off to Japan. While I am actually in Korea, its still interesting to note. ^^

As a note, "Intro to Computing" is an extremely easy test if you have any knowledge in that area at all. Or even if not, light studying will easy put you in the state needed to pass.

I also highly recommend the Humanities CLEP. It seemed more basic to me, so i am hoping you will find it the same.

Bringing a foreign born dog into Japan can be a hassle, but half of the time it works smoothly. My friend Chul Su had no problems, but my other friend did. So i hope everything goes smoothly for you! ^^
