Ok.....
I'm in the middle of arguing with Excelsior about refunding my tuition for their Business Statistics course ($900)since the professor (a PhD) has only shown up online once or twice in the first 10 days of the course and failed to show up for the first chat that he scheduled!, and has not answered one of my posted questions. I've dropped the class and am now facing the need to pass the DSST exam having taken College Algebra "just" about 24 years ago! I have 3 classes left counting this one to complete my BS in Gen Business. I've returned to IC to help. From what I am seeing, IC, the Annenburg series, an the "Idiots Guide to Stats" seems to be the right road. I also have the Standard Deviates Stats videos (which I have always liked). I have more calculators on hand then I care to mention, although I'm not all that confident in my ability to use any of them other than for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing (maybe a square root or two for good measure) yet still hoping that one of them will get this math-phobic through this one last math experience. So... one more time...any words of wisdom??? This cannot stop me from completing my degree!! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes--it is absolutely passable. If you saw my feedback, you know that I was only certain of 36 (or so) of 100 answers and I passed with a 60. Your plan sounds fine. Let IC and the Specific Exam Feedback section of the forum be your guide. You can do it!

I passed it & I am not a math person at all. I just used Idiot's Guide to Statistics & I passed! That's some great material!

It took me two weeks to study for the DSST Statistics exam. I used 'Against All Odds' on Annenburg Online, 'Statistics Workbook for Dummies', and InstantCert. I pulled an 80. While I was nervous as hell when I went in to take it, obviously I blew it away. The test is very doable.

Old Rusty,
I think you need to take up online tutoring - I truly don't believe I have an 80 in me . .. or a 70 . . . or even a 60. At the least this test will probably hurt my GPA at worst it can keep me from graduating with a degree in Psych I am not having any fun with this one. It's holding me up and it scares the bejeebers out of me. |

I'm in the same boat that you are. I have a 3.84 GPA with 3 classes to finish my BS in Gen Business at Excelsior. I thought that I would finish with Excelsior courses but this experience has me thinking otherwise. Now I'm debating whether to try the DSST or go for the Penn Foster Stats course. I will decide tomorrow- my brain hurts! ![]()
