Thumbs up New to forum but hearing same old thing from doubters...

Hello, I am new to the forum but have been using InstantCert for over a year. I obtained my nursing degree from regents College (now Excelsior) in 1990. Back then, no one had ever heard of getting a degree by testing and they thought it must be a scam. I obtained my degree while working full time as an LPN and having two babies. I could NEVER have taken the time to attend classes.
I have run into the same stuff as you all have. "So..you are BUYING your degree?" and "So your not getting a REAL degree?" I have started decribing the testing as "taking the final exam without taking the class" This seems to make people understand that you STILL have to grasp the material in order to pass the test. Actually, I feel better about obtaining my degree through testing as opposed to paying an online university $400 to $600 a credit hour. Then I WOULD feel like I was buying my degree. I have passed every test that I have taken so far...thanks to InstantCert. I feel like I have learned quite a bit in my studying for the tests. It seems to me the InstantCert process simply removes the fluff and teaches the core material. That is what I like about it. So far I have not used any other resource to study. I have passed 8 Cleps and 2 DSST's using InstantCert alone. Tomorrow I take the Labor relations ECE exam. Since there is no InstantCert material for it...I am basically going in "cold". I will keep you all posted on how I do. Thanks for all the support.

    tampalizard,

Since there isn't much info out there regarding the Labor Relations exam, your feedback will be especially helpful to many of us here. I for one, look forward to hearing your thoughts after you have taken the exam.

    Best of luck to you,

    tampalizard,

Here are a few web resources related to Labor Relations. I haven't taken this exam myself, so I can't vouch for how good these sites are. But I hope you can make use of them before your test tomorrow.

    http://history.eserver.org/us-labor-law.txt <-- Looks good

    http://www.vidol.gov/Units/Labor_Rel..._Relations.htm

http://www.kentlaw.edu/ilhs/curricul.htm <-- Not sure if this is applicable

Good luck tomorrow. We're all rooting for ya!

    Default Trajan,

Thanks! The two DSST's I have taken are Organizational Behavior and Ethics. I have tried to avoid DSST's because I HATE to wait for results! There was no option in some cases though. On May 8th I have Money and Banking and Principals of Supervision scheduled. Then I will need Principles of Finance and Management Information Systems. That should be all the DSST's I need. Have you taken any of those? Any tips?

    tampalizard,

I have taken Supervision and MIS. Your professional experience alone would probably get you through the Supervision and parts of MIS. But Instantcert will definitely be enough to pass both.

    Good luck,

    Default Snazzlefrag,

Thanks for the info. Good to hear a vote of confidence. I am very concerned about the "Principals of Finance" Math is my weak area...Have you heard anything about that one?

Only that it is NOT easy! So you will certainly want to make sure you study Instantcert sufficiently. Don't take this one lightly..especially if you are like me with math subjects!

Don't be afraid of it...but do respect it.
