I am new here and I have been going over the Instantcert study cards for Here's to your health. What I would like to know is this enough? Is there something else I should be studying?
I earned my Associates online through WIU/AXIA and am currently enrolled at Universtiy of Phoenix, I have one core class left and 24 elective credits I will then need. I would rather CLEP/Dantes test out rather then take the class. Any advice? |

Drug & Alcohol Abuse and Here's to Your Health were the first two DANTES exams I'd ever taken. I sat them as more or less a primer on what these types of tests were like, as I really didn't need the credit (and they were free).
As a military medical technician, nursing student, and civilian ER tech I have some experience in this area, so I sat them cold and passed 'em with high 50s. After reviewing IC later on, it seems like the questions would prepare you reasonably well, especially if you have any prior science classes under your belt. One key thing is to make sure you understand the concepts and material rather than simply memorizing the cards. The Rudman's guides seem to be quite good if you have them at your disposal, but is by no means essential. FWIW, I wrote reviews for these exams in the 'Specific Exam Feedback' section but they were deleted from the forum within 24 hours. Not sure what the deal with that was. |

Things to do with Hear's to Your Health.
1. Do a search in these pages to see how others approached the test. 2. Consider outside sources for study. Try the "Pass Your Class" series. 3. DO NOT, rely soley on the material on InstantCert. It's just one area to study to pass this class. I took the test and passed (53) using just InstantCert, but I was dissapointed at the number of questions which I was clueless about. Gather as much outside support as you can by using other testing avenues. Goodluck, Cal |
