Is there anyone currently enrolled in Excelsior that has taken the below courses outside of EC or have tested out of them?

    Core Requirements

    -Database Concepts
    -Operating Systems
    -Overview of Computer Security
    -Project Management

    Thank you,

I personally would look at any local community colleges to see which comparable courses they offer, then make the decision. For instance, I know the Virginia Community College System at least offers the last 4, including via distance learning. You could then possibly take Dantes MIS and find cheaper courses elsewhere or use certifications to fulfill the UL requirements of your degree, saving a chunk of change in the process. I've taken IT 360 Database Management Systems, IT 350 Business Data Communications, and IT 418 Systems Analysis and Design through Excelsior and was less than impressed, though I made an A in each course.

It would seem for OOP especially that a portfolio/life exp contestation could be applied?

I was looking at that as a possible second major, and I've got a Visual Studio 2005 folder full of assorted home projects and simple progs that mutated and took on a life of their own (and took entirely too much of my life as well ).

Has anyone ever portfolio'd their way out of some of the IT requirements?

Does anyone have a roadmap for this degree? I'm trying to decide wheter to go the IT or Business route through Excelsior. I would prefer to go the route which would let me use maximum CLEPS/DANTES/ECE.
