I'm looking at doing the BSLS with a Psychology focus at Excelsior. I want to make sure I have the correct list of which exams fall under Psychology. I already have completed intro to Psychology from a B&M school.
I'm planning on taking: ECE Abnormal Psychology ECE Research Methods in Psychology ECE Foundations of Gerontology ECE Psychology of Adulthood and Aging ECE Social Psychology For the 7th class I need to decide between: CLEP Intro to Educational Psychology CLEP Human Growth and Development DSST Lifespan Developmental Psychology ECE Lifespan Developmental Psychology DSST Organizational Behavior ECE Organizational Behavior My first question is are all of those exams considered psychology? Are there any other exams not listed that count towards the Psychology focus? Of that last list which do you think is the easiest? I had been planning on taking DSST Civil War and ECE World Populations to finish off my upper level requirement for Arts and Sciences, but if I take the ECE Organizational Behavior I can pass on the World Populations. I'm interested in what you guys think. Thanks Last edited by Southpaw : 10-20-2007 at 05:11 PM. |

Hi Southpaw,
All the exams in your list are considered Psychology credits by Excelsior. I don't believe there are any other available psychology exams. DSST Fundamentals of Counseling and DSST Drug & Alcohol Abuse are both considered Applied Professional rather than Psychology. Of the last list, I would say CLEP Intro to Educational Psychology was the easiest to pass. Also, it is pass/fail whereas the DSST exams are graded. If GPA is an issue, that would be something to consider. I also took DSST Organizational Behavior and DSST Lifespan Development Psychology. I can tell you that neither of them were overly difficult (especially if you enjoy psychology). Hope that helps, Snazzlefrag

I took World Population instead of ECE Org Behavior. I got an "A" on it by using IC and skimming the text. The reason I chose World Population was because I compared the grading curves in Excelsior's technical handbook, and Org Behavior's curve was set a bit higher.

I too took all of the Psych courses in your first list and did well on them using just IC as a study guide. I would recommend World Pop versus ECE Org Behavior...I think you'll find it a much easier study, especially now that IC has a study guide for it. Many people have been stumped by ECE's Org Beh. & ECE's Human Resource Management (myself included
)As for your bottom list, if you need just one of them, I would recommend the Intro to Psych class. It will prep you for the rest of the Psych classes you're going to take, plus it was an easy A for me using just IC...sort of see the trend there....? Whatever you decide to do, GOOD LUCK and keep us posted on your progress.
