Hello all,
This forum is great!! With the info provided in the specific feedback thread and flashcards, I got a 61 on my Intro Sociology CLEP!! Now I need to take a speech and the DANTES isn't looking too promising. Anyone got any info on this BYU course? |

I took the BYU Public Speaking course several months ago, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a course to meet the requirement for oral communication. The instructor was great, no books were required, and I finished the course quickly. Good luck!

How long did this course take you?? What interaction if any with the instructor was required?

It took me about 8 weeks to finish the course. I work full-time, so I think its possible for someone to complete it a lot quicker. There were 9 lessons and 7 speeches. You have to record each speech and mail in the tape. There was about a 2 week turn-around on the grades for each speech (mostly due to snail mail).
I didn't need to interact much with the instructor. All of the lessons are online, and they are very clear and easy to follow. After you send in your tape, the grade is posted online. The instructor also returns the tapes plus some additional feedback for each speech. This course was a good choice for me. I really don't like public speaking, but this was relatively painless. I'd recommend it to anyone. |
