Default Any tips on Intro to Educational Psych?

I took HG&D last week and have been studying for Ed Psych since with a test date of 5/3. This will be the first time I have used just InstantCert in preparation. Does anyone remember taking the test?

    Hi all,

I passed CLEP Intro to Educational Psychology with a 66 today. Another 3 credits in the bank.

I would say that this exam is quite easy to pass. I actually had a smile on my face for most of the exam, because many of the questions were extremely straightforward.

Here are some links and tips!

    Resources:

    http://www.instantcert.com

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educational_psychology (a great overview and, of course, you can follow links to go deeper on any name, theory, concept etc.)

    http://www.abacon.com/slavin/notes.html

http://www.sparknotes.com/psychology/index.html (pick and choose the sections you need)

    http://www.raritanval.edu/department...ych/notes.html

    Names to Know:

    Bandura
    Binet
    Bruner
    Erikson
    Freud
    Gardner
    Guilford
    Hull
    Kohlberg
    Maslow
    Pavlov
    Piaget
    Thorndike
    Skinner
    Spearman
    Sternberg
    Vygotsky

    Concept & Theories to Know:

    Advance Organizers
    Social Learning
    Modeling
    Discovery Learning
    Convergent/Divergent Thinking
    Schemas
    Law of Effect
    Retroactive/Proactive Inhibition
    Types of Memory
    Behavior Modification
    Erikson's Stages
    Piaget's Stages
    Premack Principle
    Zone of Proximal Development
    Drive Reduction Theory (motivation)
    Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
    Self-actualization
    Creativity
    Test Biases
Mean, median, mode (statistics..just know what they are)
Central Tendency (statistics..just know what it is)
Normal Distribution (statistics..hey! Did you know that 34% of scores fall between the mean and one Standard Deviation above the mean. I'm just saying!)
IQ Test (what it tests for etc.)
    Information Processing (Sternberg)
Individuals with Disabilities Act (know the basics of what it covers)
    Pygmalion Effect (Self-fulfilling Prophecy)
Wait-time (Budd-Rowe...3+ seconds after student responses)
Bilingual Education (Transition vs Maintenance approaches)

    ---

Knowing the above info should get you a pass on this exam. If you have already taken Intro to Psych, and Human Growth & Development (or Lifespan), you will find a lot of this information overlaps.

Passing Statistics beforehand helped me too. However, if you know the 2 or 3 items I listed above regarding stats, you will be good to go. Don't stress about having to know statistics.

    I hope this helps,
