    Question CLEP, DANTES, EXCELSIOR, Non-Military?

Thanks to Shotojuku for pointing me to this forum, might be exactly what I need.

    I have a few questions.

If I'm non-military, can I qualify for DANTES?
Can I take the CLEP and other tests BEFORE signing up with Excelsior?
Someone mentioned Certifications will transfer, but I could not find anything on their site, can that be confirmed?

I reposted from a different forum in quotes some more information.

    Best course of action?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After reading BAin4weeks, my eyes have opened to different available possibilities.

I would ask your guidance on my situation.

My best friend and I live together, and have decided we want to pursue our degrees together.

    We have seperate college backgrounds.

I have completed several Community College courses and Computer Certification Experience (Comptia A+, Network+, i-net+, CIW, MCP NT4/2000, MCSE NT4/2000, MCDBA NT4, 2000)

He has completed some Community College Courses, some University Courses, and has completed 2 years at DeVry University.

    I have no military background.

He is a Military Vet who was Medically Discharged.

Our background is in Computers, we are looking to complete an AA Degree or equivalent and complete a BA or BS (preferred Computers or Business)

What is the best course of action to go about completing an AA/AS and BA/BS.

Is Excelsior College the way to go?

We are not pressed for time, but would like to take 1 exam per day.

    Thanks!

Yes to the first two questions.

Here is the Excelsior link that shows credit for certifications. https://www.excelsior.edu/portal/pag..._schema=PORTAL

Excelsior offers both seperate IT/Technology and Business degrees as well as a Business MIS degree.

With credit for your certs, you are already well on your way.

    Interesting,

I wonder if I could possibly get more credit because I got my NT4 MCSE and then got my 2000 MCSE seperately meaning additional testing.

I will call Excelsior tomorrow as it looks like they accept Comptia as well, though I did not see CIW.

I wonder which program I'll be closest to completing with my transfer credits, etc.
