Default What order should I take these?

Hi everyone! I've been reading the forum for awhile now and have finally found the time to begin preparing for a few exams. I am a TESC student, sick of online classes and writing papers (I seem to be on the 20 yr plan) and I am hoping to test out of the remainder of my classes. If I can pass these exams, I think I only have one more business elective to take and I'm finished!

Does anyone have any suggestions for the order I should take the following courses?

Principles of Supervision (from what I've read this seems to be the easiest)
    Organizational Behavior
    Human Resources Mgmt
    Money & Banking
    Business Law
    Business Policy

Thanks for any advice you guys can give me,

    Rachael

    Hi Rachael,

You are doing right in taking Supervision first. It is one of the easier exams, and will give you a chance to get used to the DSST format.

Organizational Behavior and HRM are both highly passable DSST exams. I would take those next after Supervision.

By "Business Law", do you mean DSST Business Law II? If so, BLII is an upper level exam and quite challenging. The same is true of Money & Banking. However, both can be passed with sufficient study. They are unrelated to each other, so it probably doesn't matter which order you take these two exams.

You will find detailed and specific feedback about all the above exams right here on this board.

TECEP Business Policy is covered less here, but you will still find some good feedback. It is considered to be the capstone course in most business degrees. So taking it last would seem to make most sense.

    Hope that helps,
    Snazzlefrag

    Hi Snazzlefrag,

Thanks for your input... by Business Law, I mean the Intro to Bus. Law, the first course.

The Money & Banking does seem a bit scary, somehow worse than the Bus. Law and Bus Policy courses. I may have to see if any of the other exams will fill that spot.

I have to get motivated to study and get these exams overwith! I was planning on taking the Mgmt Info Syst exam too, but chickened out and took the online course at TESC. Yikes! There were a ton of written assignments and the essay exams were pretty tough. I really wished I had taken the exam now.

    I'd suggest:

    1) Principles of Supervision
    2) Human Resources Mgmt
    3) Organizational Behavior
    4) Business Law
    5) Money & Banking
    6) Business Policy

1, 2, then 3 because they all build up on one another.
4 because it really doesn't fit in with anything else, but you want some familiarity with Business Law before moving on.
5 then 6 because you really want to be familiar with all aspects of business before taking the capstone course (Business Policy).

    Rachael,

CLEP Intro to Business Law is nothing to be afraid of. I would recommend that you skip Money & Banking and take Business Law II instead (if it fits in with your needs). If you take it right after Intro to Business Law, you will already be in the right frame of mind to study towards the upper level exam. There is obviously more of a relationship between the two Business Law exams than there is between Intro to BL and M&B. So you would maximize your study efforts. I also happen to feel that BLII was not quite as difficult as M&B.

    Hope that helps,
    Snazzlefrag

Hmm, that's interesting...for some reason I would have thought the Money and Banking would be easier than Bus Law II....but I can see your point about already being the the right frame of mind. Being afraid to take the Bus Law I course, I never even really considered taking the second one.

Even if I take the Bus Law II though, I think I still need one more Bus elective even after I take this bunch of exams so I may end up taking the Money & Banking anyway..... unless I can find another exam that works in its spot. I may even end up taking another online course. bleh!

    Rachael

    Thanks for the insight.
