    Question DSST exam site NYC

Can someone tell me where I can take a DSST exam in NYC that doesn't require enrollment? No, I am not military. I haven't taken any exams yet, but plan on registering for CLEP Info systems and DSST MIS together as recommended by 123collegedegree to be my first exams. I have an AAS in Nursing and so far plan to go through TESC for a BS in Nursing, then shoot for a Business degree. I plan to take the CLEP at SUNY MEOC (http://sunymeoc.org/clep.html) as they only charge $5.00. They have other centers across NY state. Visit http://www.sunyeoc.org/EOC_info.html lists the test centers. If I'm lucky, they'll let me take the DSST too.

I'm nowhere near NYC, so I can't help you there.

But I'd make sure to have the test center order the DSST ahead of time, as most don't carry each exam and have to order it upon request.

    Good luck!

Only thing I can recommend is check the list of test centers at http://www.getcollegecredit.com , and call the ones closest to you.

    Good luck!

    That's right,

More specifically, go to this page on the site:

    http://www.getcollegecredit.com/search.html?st=NY

Uncheck all but the "blue star" option at the top of the page. It will narrow the search down to only show actual TESTING CENTERS in New York.

    Good luck,

    Default CLEP fee

i dont believe there is any DANTES site for NYC, i am from NYC but i am in the military and i tried to look for testing sites while on leave in NYC for DANTES. even the fort hamilton army base doesnt have such an offer. and the 5 dollar you're talking about is only your exam administration fee, remember that the CLEP exam fee is only waived for military personnel at military-friendly colleges that offer CLEP. sorry to give you the bummer

I'm not from New York City, so I am not familiar with locations and distances. I know NYC is a huge place so forgive me if the following list is unhelpful.

But here are few that (I think) are in or around NYC (check the actual link above if you want to locate other places that may be even nearer to you):

I think she knew that there was also a test fee. For those of us not in the military we have to pay for the test as well as a testing fee which is differant from site to site. Some sites charge up to $25 per test!!
There are many Dantes testing sites in NYC, i will be going there to take some tests in July and the list Snazzle put up is correct...

    Default Thanks everyone!!

I'll call the centers with the blues stars and let everyone know which centers REALLY give the exams. And yes, I do know about the $60 CLEP fee, but there is also the testing site fee which can be $35.00!!! The $5.00 fee is the cheapest one I can find and it used to be free!!! I see I have to make arrangements way in advance for DSST exams.

    hi cwendy111,

It usually only takes about a week for DANTES exams to arrive at the test center once they order them. At that time, you can then call and schedule a time to actually take the exam.

I just ordered three DANTES exams at my test center last week, and the exams arrived THREE DAYS later. That's a record for me! Usually they arrive with 7-10 days.

So, you do have to plan ahead for the DANTES more than the CLEPs. But it often only requires a week or so of advanced planning.

    Hope that helps,
    Snazzlefrag
