Finished the four online Penn Foster exams in Managerial Accounting. I ended up with an overall 91% average. I think I can use the same scavenger hunt approach on the final exam on Thursday, so I'm not going to bother doing any more studying. That means I can concentrate on the Business Strategy project and discussion board. Five days to go!

I confirmed with Penn Foster today that it is. Open book, one hour time limit, notes are allowed, calculator allowed, 7-10 questions. Each exam is custom-generated for each student, so there is no way to know what will be on your particular exam. Passing is 70% so I really can't afford more than two wrong answers. Still, I'm pretty confident about it.

Interesting, I'm guessing since its 7-10 questions its not multiple choice.

    Default Paper exam

Both exams I have taken (tech math and principles of finance) were paper based exams, multi-part questions, non-multiple choice. I needed the full time period for both exams. My principles of finance exam had 10 questions but some of them you had in reality 3 or more answers that went with the question. The tech math exam was 15 mult-part questions. I found that if I had needed to look up the answers for the questions I would not have had time to finish the exam (which is why I ended taking the tech math retest I ran out of time and didn't get it finished). the retest had 7 questions some mult-part. I didn't have any trouble finishing the retest in the time limit.

I took the Penn Foster Managerial Accounting final this morning. Judy is right. This is a tough exam. There was a three-question Part A, and a ten-question Part B. The Part A questions were worth 20 points each. I got bogged down and spent way too much time on the first question, which in retrospect was quite simple. I managed to recover and wrote what I believe to be solid answers to all three questions in Part A. The Part B questions were worth four points each, and I answered six of them. I'm pretty confident in my answers, so I think I may have scored as much as 84 points overall. 70 is passing. I think I'd give about 2 to 1 odds that I passed, and even money that I scored a B (80 or over). It's going to take about three weeks to get my scores, so meanwhile it's time to finish up my Business Strategy case study project.

Just to keep everybody posted, I'm afraid I did not make my sixty day goal. I'm still working on the case study project for Business Strategy. I can still say I did 99% in sixty days. 3 credits out of 120 is 2.5% and more than 50% of my grade in the last 3 credits was complete. That means less than 1.25% to go, and I actually earned more than 120 credits, so I'm laying claim to 99%.

Of course if it turns out that I blew the Managerial Accounting final, then all bets are off. Meanwhile, I'm struggling through this case study project. I decided I really want an A in this course, as that gives me magna cum laude at Excelsior. If that means another week or so of effort on this project, so be it.

I'm trying for an A on my last four graded exams/courses as well. I have four old C's and one two-credit B that I'm trying to negate--and four A's (and replacing my old Business Law C) will get me Magna Cum Laude as well. One B and I'll have to accept Cum Laude. You could have easily reached your sixty day goal under the old plan where you could take the Business Policy exam--which is really too bad.

Nonetheless, your accomplishment is still really freakin' impressive!
