Default Passed MIS and a Question

I just got back from passing Management Information Systems with a 57. It was pretty easy and didn't go thru but maybe three sections of the flashcard for the test. I have been in IT for about 7 years and have taken classes that has similar concepts.

My question is how do all of these people end up with scores in the 60's and 70's? I have never gotten anything above a 60. I just dont get it. My school doesn't give a letter grade, it only awards the credit so it doesn't really effect me but I was just curious.

It all depends on your version of the test and what the spread is on the scores. I can say that the way I felt comfortable when I finished my MIS yesterday was that I went back and counted from the begining the ones I was sure I got right and the ones I figured I had a 50/50 shot on. There were 89 questions total, I knew I was right on 48 of them, 50/50 on another 32 leaving only 9 I didn't feel confidant in. Even if I only got half of the 50/50 (I'm sure I got more) that means I got 64 of the 89 right which is 72% and usually good enough for at least a 60.

As far as what I studied I used the Peterson exams, a little of the IC cards and looked up the terms and acronyms on the exam specific thread here. Hope that helps.

I consider anything over a passing, or whatever letter grade you are shooting for to be over studying

If I have read correctly on here... is it true that on transcripts if you transfered CLEP credit to Excelsior.. and graduated .. it shows as "P" and not a letter grade?

Your scores match up pretty close to mine so I like reading your notes and feedback since we ususally score around the same.

My guess would be additional study. Instead of going through "but maybe three sections of the flashcards," why don't you try learning all of the flashcards well, taking the three Peterson's tests and brushing up on the areas where you need additional study and THEN taking a test.

Makes sense, but for some people taking it and just passing with little or no study is alot more sufient then studying for 2-3months just to score a higher grade which is still just a pass. I mean for myself personally, I would rather just take an 8 week course in the subject then to study for 2-3 months, but at the same time I only spend at most 2 weeks studying for any particular exam and I also take classes as well. So each to their own lol.
