There are several really great programs for the Master's level online. I think that Shoto and Katterina enrolled with CCU and there is Liberty University and others. Old Rusty Pipe posted this link that, if I remember, has a couple of others. Dantes Online Catalog

The question is what you plan to do with it afterwards. Many people stop at the Master's level and can still do counseling and some types of mental health. It depends on what your specific state allows.

If you are going to continue on for you PhD then you will want to make sure that the program will be accepted for transfer to the future university. Also, what would you like to be? Your answer could affect your choices. For example, a Clinical Psychologist in our state has to have gone through an APA approved program in order to obtain licensure. At this time, the only APA approved online program for a PhD in psychology is Fielding University in California. Fielding Graduate University: PhD, EdD, Master's, & Graduate-level Certificate Programs in Psychology, Education, Organizational Development, Organizational Management
Here is the link to the APA accreditation page if you would like more information. Accredited Doctoral Programs in Professional Psychology

If you are not going to work specifically in mental health then the APA and licensing issues won't matter. I can think of several professions where having a Master's in psychology would be extremely beneficial. Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Teaching, Day Care or Nursing Home Mgmt. to name just a few. Hope this has been of some help. Good luck to you!

Edit to update info: Washington State's licensure rules changed just 4 months ago to allow some graduates of non-APA schools to qualify. Check their site for more information. https://fortress.wa.gov/doh/hpqa1/hp.../licensure.htm This is great news for some of us and goes to show that it doesn't hurt to keep checking.

    Great post!!
Thanks for the great info Livremore and congrats on your graduation. I have been researching the same options for a graduate and possibly a Ph.d in Psych as well as other areas of study, and I found Northcentral University to be a good choice for Psych, given that in my state the grad school doesn't need to be APA accredited or approved -the regional accreditation is the standard here in OH.
Please share your results if you find anything of interest. Also, the university of North Dakota seems to have a very good program online but I believe that is not self-paced.
What I'm trying to find out now is which one of the online graduate programs in psych is actually self-paced as opposed to following the traditional calendars.
So far, I'm aware of California Coast University through the individuals who have attended and are posters here. In the next few weeks I'll be calling a couple of universities to get some more info about this.
If I find anything other than what's mentioned, I'll post it here.
    Thanks again!
