    Default DANTES (DSST) Technical Writing

    Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone had taken the DANTES (DSST) Technical Writing Exam.

Does anyone have any study hints?
-- I wish there was an IC Flash Card for this exam but there isn't.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Default tech. writing

The book "The Elements of Technical Writing" by Blake and Bly was all that I studied for this exam and it was pleanty. I don't remember much about it, except that there was quite a bit about sentence restructuring and finding problems in statements. They will give an example and give you 3 options to change it to, or keep it the same. Not a very difficult test, just know the parts of a technical document and what is included in them (e.g. abstract).

Any book on technical writing ought to do it....I used one of my dad's old ones and also did a little research online.

DON'T bother with the Rudman's Guide for the test....it's awful. Covers stuff that is totally outdated--as in, pre-computer.

I took this one recently. It was quite easy. Get the Technical Writing Handbook (the on recommended from the study list) from the library. Study some of that material and look at the specific feedback section. Good Luck!

    Hey everyone!

    Thanks for the replies.

It looks like I have a little bit of studying to do ... but, it sounds like this exam is very "do-able".

I'm going to give it a shot.

    Thanks again!
