OK well I'm about to take my first CLEP test on March 27. It's for the Spanish CLEP and I'm really nervous because I don't want to waste $80 and fail the test and I have to pass this test if I want to be able to overload my class schedule during the summer. I got the best spanish clep preparation book from REA and found the subjet matter more difficult than expected I took years of spanish in highschool (i just graduated in jan.) so most of it is fresh in my mind. I've exhausted all the resources on the net, but what I really want is real life people giving me detailed info about the test. Any encouragement/advice is appreciated.

I've not taken the spanish test so someone else will have to chime in, but here are 2 things to consider about clep's in general.
1. The study guides are typically harder than the test. They would rather go for overkill than undershoot.
2. It's not like typical tests where you need to get 70%(+) correct. About 1/2 of the answers need to be correct to pass (give or take)
Go to the search (above) and type "spanish" & see what pops up. If you've taken it in H.S. then at the very least it should be easier to brush up on. Now if you don't know the difference between cocker spaniel and espanol you might be in trouble

You should be careful with the CLEP language exams because you do actually need more than 50% correct answers if you want to get 12 credits. Ace's CLEP credit recommendation for College Spanish is 6 credits for scores between 50 and 65 inclusive and 12 credits for scores >= 66. Excelsior's assessment catalog states 63 for 12 credits (but that could be a typo, I don't know).

Well I heard my REA book is way harder than the real thing and I'm hoping that's true. I keep trying to remind myself that there is no way I can get every question right and I don't even need close to that to succeed. I guess I'll just be really embarrassed if I don't pass because I'm such a perfectionist. Like I don't even need to rush college because I'm only 17 but I have my heart set on getting my AA right after I turn 18. I guess I will really pick up the pace on studying and especially grammar (because that's where I tank on the pretests)
