Hey all!

I did a quick search and was unable to find any info on what Excelsior considers upper credits from American Military University. I am assuming anything 300-400. My story...I need about 26 hours, mostly upper for a BA Gen Studies from Excel, AMU does not offer such a degree. I want to take the AMU courses for the mere fact that books are included and revert back to Excel once I have reached my goal.

Your best bet is to call EC and speak with an advisor. If you are approved then is is CRITICAL that you get them to post your approved classes in your "approved" section. I say this because I was told to take two classes and when I aced both of them they said that they couldn't apply them to my degree because of overlap. Make sure you have this in writing!

Even though the books are included, the price is kind of high. The books aren't that expensive, compared with the $250.00 per credit hr. I was signed up for their BS degree in Env Studies but then I realized the book deal is a catch. From what I've heard, they don't have a lot of proctored finals, that's a good thing. But they didn't take as many of my credits for that program as I had hoped. One last item, when I talked to Excelsior about a yr and a half ago, they said they had to look closely at some of AMU/APUS courses and how they could accept UL credit (AMU/APUS were regionally by then). At least that is what the Lib Studies side said. For my money, there are better alternatives but that's just my 2 cents.
