    Question DSST Civil War...Is this Enough?

    Ok, I've completed many searched on here to get an idea of what to expect. I simply want to run this by a few of the more experienced member in the forum. Here's what I've done so far:

    * Watched complete Ken Burns Series
    * Read SparkNotes Civil War
    * Read SparkNotes Reconstruction
    * Reviewed many online timelines, and
    * I'm in the middle of going through the IC flashcards.

    Is this enough? Should I do more? Should I read the Idiot's Guide too? (Do I really have to cause I dont wanna ) I have to ask because I have an overwhelming tendency to overdo things....like over-studying.

    I used 3 of those resources(Sparknotes Civil War/Reconstruction, and IC), it was enough for me to pass.

    If you don't mind me asking, what was your score?

    Don't know about Civil War but if you have a choice, take Technical Writing over English Comp w/ Essay.

    I crammed for about a 1 11/2, studying about 8-10 hrs total(which I don't recommend), but I did make a 57. I am sure that if you take your time then you can get a much higher score.

    Yes. Civil War DSST was the last credit that I needed to finish my degree and I ended up over studying.

    If you know the IC flashcards and the timelines, you should be OK. Make sure you're comfortable with your generals - who was at which battle, because I saw several "which of the following" questions regarding who was or was not at specific battles.

    Probably wouldn't hurt to know which Beast appeared on chamber pots in Louisiana, either.

    Good luck on the test!

    The bread riots were mentioned in the Ken Burns DVDs and in SparkNotes. Hahaha...actually I remember the general who was placed in the chamber pots becasue he was so rough with the ladies. However, I can't blame him because the ladies were very disrespectful to his soldiers.

    I pretty much know all the major battle: what happened, why it was important, some strategies used. I can usually remember one general but not the otehr. I'm good with the Union leaders, but can only recall a few of the Confederate leaders. However, if I hear/see the name. I can pretty much tell you which side they were on.

    As far as practice exams, Rudman's is pretty iffy. One thing I forgot to mention in the exam-specific forum is that Rudman's has over 400 Q&As.

    If nothing else, read the chapter summaries (Things You Should Know) and make sure that you do in fact know them - Good Luck!
