Default Can I get an AMEN!!!

Just got back from taking Principles of Finance and I got a 55...46 was a pass. WhooHooo!!! - not sure, is a 55 a B or an A at Excelsior???

I studied for 1 week on this one...so in your face Shoto....

I primarily used IC, but I did suplement with:

Foundations of Financial Management by McGraw Hill (quizzes for each chapter) - found in the specific exam thread

That website was awesome, very thorough and the practice quizzes were very helpful.

The test was very hard. Fortunately, I was able to use my BA II calculator, which I do not think I was supposed to be allowed to use. If I had not had the calculator, I am not sure if I would have passed. Probably 1/3rd-2/5ths of the exam was calculations regarding ratios, present and future values, NPV, IRR, and DOL. The rest of the test was really brutal. I guessed on about half of the non-calculation questions. I wish I could give more detail on the specifics, but my head feels like it is about to explode and I can't remember anything...

I am so glad to have this one over with...I only have 1 really tough one left...Money and Banking...after that I have 3 relatively easy ones...

My advise on this exam would be to study longer and harder than I did, especially if you are not allowed to use a business calculator, but it was doable in 1 week, total of 15-20 hours of study.

    56 A

    50 B

    46 C

Great score but I wonder.........................wait for it..................Would just a little bit more of study time been worth that one little small point going from a B (3.0) to and A (4.0).

GREAT JOB - CONGRATS - AMEN!!!!!!!

Congrats Bmills! Phew...! you had me feeling guilty - I'm so glad you passed after your last comment about my posting the average DSST test results in the Money and Banking exam specific forum...!! Obviously you are waaaay above average - but you knew that already!

One week of study is amazing to learn enough material to pass this test - as a finance newbie and more in the Shotu's camp re learning approach, there is no way I would try that! I just got the BA II plus calculator - did you know how to use it before studying for this week?

Anway - well done! You should feel very good about what you accomplished.

    touche'...Shoto...touche'

Fortunately, because of some of the crap grades that I transfered in from my first college experience, I am not too worried about GPA...

knucyt...I did know how to use the calculator ahead of time, but there are several links on the specific exam forum that teach you how to use it, let me know if you have any trouble...BTW, the info about the pass rates for the DSST exams actually helped me buckle down a little more than I probably would have, so thanks for the info...now on to the lowest pass rate exam of them all, Money and Banking...13%...yikes

BMills - Thanks and Cool! I just started studying for the DSST POF this afternoon, so once I know what NPV and all that other stuff is, I will be going thru the tutorials to learn the calculator - I appreciate the offer of assistance if I do get stuck. Do you have any POF study notes you want to share?!

In the meantime, all the best with the studying for Money & Banking - I'll be interested to see your exam feedback once your done - I've no doubt you'll do great and I still be sweating my way thru POF!

    Have a good one.
