    Default My school is lame

Well, first they said i could take cleps to fufill my free electives, now there realizing that they dont like how fast and cheaply im obtaining credits. They said noone has done this since 1991, as in no typical undergrads, and that i have sparked them to change their policy this up coming july. Its bullshit, while yes i will most likely not encounter a problem i feel bad for other future students, especially in these times where people are trying to save money when student loans are hard to obtain. Not to mention my tution is upwards of 28,000 a year. However the worst part of it all is that theyve decided that all 6 credit courses only count as a 3 credit course! I HATE the beuracrocy of college, it boggles my mind that people take the mindset of an institution!!!

    Cool I agree!

    Hello Jandrade...

I agree with you totally...that is some bull----. I agree with everything you said. My face twisted up by itself when I read that.

It is amazing how people are these days. It's all about money. Money, money, money.

People that need an affordable education can't get it.

Let me stop...it's too early in the morning for me to be getting worked up.

    I'll chat with ya later,

    From a loyal degree seeker,

    Marshall

What school Jandrade? It sounds like they do not like you cutting into their outrageous profits.

I understand some schools putting caps on what you are allowed to test out of. But to say none at all. That is utter bull shit. The school where I am taking my A.S atm does not accept clep/dsst. However they do provide their own test out option. You just take one of the instructors final exams. However you are not allowed to test out of core classes.

If they are afraid of profits then just put a cap on it. saying you cannot test out of more than x classes for an AS / AA and more than y classes for a BS/BA.

Unfortunately, schools are free to set their own policies regarding CLEP, DSSTs, and other credit-by-exam programs. You just have to learn the school policies and work with them.

That being said, how about suggesting an alternative to the school for future students. Instead of eliminating CLEPs altogether, suggest they make a policy that credit for CLEPs will only be given for exams that are completed before the first full-term of enrollment. This would be identical to the University of Florida policy.

Have you considered maybe transefering to TESC or Excelsior? They are much more flexible about CLEP/DSST credits. Just a thought.

education is a huge industry. Especially in distance learning, it seems the more accessible education is the more it costs.
