Man that really stinks about the proctor not being able to set up the test for you. Are you taking it on terra-firma or on board? Which DSST are you waiting to take?
I have now heard about two Uni facilities having trouble proctoring tests - due to the testing center not doing the latest software upgrade correctly (the most recent DSST administrative SW upgrade came out May 1). Could this be the problem? As to scoring - I would not be concerned about this at all -these new exams are not supposed to be any harder than the previous ones and it sounded like the new scoring was only temporary (for the paper beta tests).

Just thinking out loud here... I wonder if we are going to see the end of letter grades for DSST exams at Excelsior, like we did with CLEPS?

Dear All, I just took my first and second tests today and I didn't have any new tests but I did see something on the screen about the beta tests. I asked the proctor but she couldn't give any details. She said I shouldn't worry about it. I hope I can continue to test with the old tests that are currently available.

I looked at the link.......does this mean they are only beta-testing those ten tests? Everything else should score normally?

Studyhard - that's what I was told when I asked last week - only these 10 tests are affected (for now) and will be officially rolled out sometime "this summer."
Cederic824 - thanks very much for posting that link about the new tests - I'm glad to see that they finally put some information up there! I've been looking for this!

As I mentioned in the first post on this topic, I received a 461 out of 500 on DSST MIS... I went into the test knowing NOTHING about the new scoring and the exam did not present me with any surprises... it seemed to align closely with what I'd studied.
My college awarded me full credit for the exam yesterday, so the beta testing didn't seem to throw them either. (Columbia College). As I mentioned, I was making an average of 61 on the Peterson's exams going into the exam, and on other tests, my actual score was closely aligned with my Peterson's practice scores. So, if you're passing Peterson's, you should pass the DSST you are taking, beta or not. Good luck!!! ![]() |

Okay, that's good to know. I actually called my proctor yesterday and asked about it and he said the same thing. Whew. I guess I'm going to have to take a PAPER test. *elaborate shudder* I've never taken a paper DSST before but I've just opted to do that rather than wait around for the online system at my local center to be fixed. The proctor says they're working on it and I believe him but whatever it is, it's some kind of major snafu. He thinks he can get the test overnighted so that it'll be here for me next week. It's my last test too--Western Europe Since 1945. Then I'll be DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At Fort Hays St. in KS, I took the old Here's to Your Health and got a 61.
She said the New version was available to take on computer, but I didn't want the new one. She said the last day to take the old HTYH test was August 31st. I don't know if that is just FHSU policy or u cannot take the old tests at all after Aug 31. |

Hello, I want to take the MIS exam in February and am reading about the new scoring. I am confused as to what to study. The DANTES website lists two textbooks, this website has an exam database for $20 per month, and someone mentioned Peterson's guides, which I can't find for this exam. I found a book on Amazon by Jack Rudman. I am confused! Please help - thanks.
