Default Clep a College degree really possible?

Is it really possible to Clep an associates and BA in Business Management in under a year with clep/dantes test? I plan on taking all clep/dantes tests prior to enrolling at Excelsior College. Can you get into a masters program at another college by doing this? This just seems to good to be true. I'm 26 and have a fairly decent work history/resume. My degree is now what is holding me back not work experience. I'm single, no kids, low work load so I should have plenty of time to study.

"Is it possible" is as an important a question as "How bad do you want it?"

In this case if the answer to the second question is "I want it badly!" then the answer to the first is "YES - it is possible and more likely probable!"

There are many-many students and past grads here that can attest to this, me being one of them; I earned 3-degrees (see below) 3.7 years and had a few slight breaks in between each one.

You have many significant and positive variables on your side already but I would advise a bit of caution about setting specific deadlines in completing your degree, however the use of setting goals within flexible timelines will be a great motivator.

    Good Luck!

It is possible to complete MOST requirements for a business degree through CLEP/DSST tests. Excelsior has recently changed requirements that the capstone Business Policy course must be taken at Excelsior. However, even with that requirement, it is entirely possible to test out of all the rest of the courses in about a year. I personally tested out of 58 credit hours in six months, so it is definitely possible.

If you haven't created an account at the Excelsior website, go ahead and do that because it is free and you need to have an account to download publications. Once you have an account, go to https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_...s_Before_Login and download the School of Business Catalog and the Student Guide to Credit by Exam at Excelsior College & The Assessment Catalog. That should help you get started in matching exams to specific degree requirements. If you have additional questions, feel free to ask.

    Good luck,

    LXOZ,

It is absolutely possible!! I have tested out of 57 credits in nine months and will be testing out of twelve more on 5/29, and I am on the slow boat look at ShotoJuku!

    Default 45 credits so far

I started in June 2007 and have tested out 45 units. I have a 2 year old and work about 50 to 60 hours a week... I could have done more if I worked less and had less home responsibilities....

I don't think it's possible with just CLEP and DANTES, but if you include Excelsior College Examinations (ECE), Thomas Edison College Examination Program (TECEP), then you can almost test out completely. The two remaining obstacles are Business Strategy, which has already been mentioned (15-week Excelsior College course required), and the Managerial Accounting requirement, which currently is not covered by any exam. You can take an Excelsior Managerial Accounting course, or there are many alternative courses that will cover it. I took a Penn Foster College course, and completed it in about a week.

All in all, I took my first CLEP on November 27 of last year, and by the end of January, two months later, had everything done except the Business Strategy course. I completed that course on May 2, and my degree will be conferred on June 20. I have already received offers to apply for Master's degree programs.

I don't recommend my schedule, particularly in some subject areas where I took some risks, but I think it demonstrates that it is possible to earn a degree that quickly, and almost entirely with exams.
